necroing this a bit but allow me to hit you up with some math

running magic pen, some ap, and tankiness increased thresh's over all dmg output, he wont burst
but his sutstained dmg is greater over all

try building sorcerer shoes, liandre torment, and rod of ages as your primary goals, your fourth Item should be Iceborn. the next two are advisory, I personally recommend runic bulwark and abyssal scepter.

your end stats with this build are
3579 hp
2142 mana
230+Passive souls (average of 325 w/ passive)
133 armor+ passive souls (average of 228 total)
192 magic resist
and most importantly 8% spell pen from boots, 45 from runes, masteries, and items, and 20 from abyssal aura.

your dps running a full Q-E-R combo is 1904, if the enemy has 150 mr, then you still, with pen average 1330 dmg output from that combo, available ever 150 seconds or so,

if just using passive-active Q-E your dps is 954 sfter resists its 668.

If running ad your output for QER is 1845, with resistances 738, and standard Q-E is 1217, with resistances this is cut down to 387. as you can see your dmg is outshined sustained by ap bruiser thresh, please note that Either build focused on moderate dmg and much tanky.

What I would like to know is why I would play AP solo top rather than AD solo top. I've already heard how great AD top is, but I'd like to know why you think the AP build is worth it. (I'm going to go test it out, no worries) but just to make this build better it might be good to start out with why you think this way to build Thresh is one of the best ways.

http://www.lolking.net/summoner/na/22811970#history there's a link to my matches. Still undefeated as solo top. Jarv was a pain to lane against, but still won. And ya, GA is the way to end the build for sure.

I love the item guide and skill list. I was running M. pen quints & marks, armor seals, and m. res per lvl seals. But I followed the items and skills and out performed every other champ in the game. Ended 15/6/15 and dominated anyone that came near me. I was top against Darius and any time I fought instead of running I mopped the floor with him. (He was my first death (first blood), then I came back and ran the freight train.) I would say getting a GA, randuins, or Warmogs over a death cap end game would be a much more advisable choice. I was one item off my full build, but I would rather add more beef than burst at that point. You're suppose to be right in the thick of it with Thresh and getting hammered on, makes sense to end your build with some D so you can eat away at the other team longer. Can't wait to see the rest of your guide, definitely worth it so far.

Hey I was wondering about your choice of offensive runes- why not go with defensive to balance out the lack of leveling armor and magic resist? Also if we're going to be off-tank it'd probably make more sense (at least to me) to go defensive masteries.

I'm currently working on that, the guide (currently only build) will be expanded in the upcomming weekend, thank you for your attention.

I understand the build but why should I go with thresh solo top when I am facing _________ and When should I not go thresh solo top?
