Of course, as everyone says, please try this build out before you downvote it and if you do, please say why. Also, I'm up for suggestions on ways to improve this build. Anyways...

The first thing you do is grab a Regrowth Pendant and a Health Potion and move to your lane. I find it's always easier to lane with someone who is ranged DPS, preferably with stuns or slows to help you close it. You typically want to max out Q fast because it's your damage ability. Because Trundle is more of a support type, he needs some survivability and not 100% all out damage items, as will be explained. You generally want to farm as fast as you can and help push the lane. You can always get Pillar of Filth at 2 and Contaminate at 4 if you think you might be able to gank early, but Contaminate will help you kill creeps faster and really is a pretty good at keeping opposing champs away, particularly melee types.

Once you have enough money, gate back and get a Philosopher's Stone and either Ninja Tabi if you want armor and dodge or Mercury's Treads if you need the resists. Don't forget the treads stack with your Contaminate ability, so they are quite useful if the other team is CC heavy. Next thing you want to do is grab Sheen as soon as possible. This will really make your Rabid Bite help you do some good DPS. Grab a Phange next as you work up to a Trinity Force. This is an amazing item for Trundle because it has great stats and the passives work very well. That 130% base damage after cast will make you hit quite hard with Rabid Bite. The next thing I like to get is The Brutalizer and work your way to Youmuu's Ghostblade. This is another weapon that works well, giving you decent AD, crit chance %, AP and the always welcome CD reduction. The active is quite sick on Grundle, combined with Contaminate. You will really be hitting hard and fast when this is active. At this point, your running costs will be 7992 gold if you buy Ninja Tabi or 8342 if you get Mercury's Treads.

At this point, I like to start going defensive, as you will grouping up and need the survivability in order to stay alive and remain a treat. I like to pick up Warden's Mail at this time as I work up to Randuin's Omen. This gives you a ton of armor, extra health, hp regen, CD reduction and a chance on being hit to slow and snare your attacker. The active ability is going to also have great synergy with your other abilities and items. The next item is Banshee's Veil. The extra health, mana and resists are great and the passive is just so helpful. If you are facing a heavy CC or AP team, you probably will want to get this before Randuin's Omen. The final item is Shurelya's Reverie. This allows you to make use of that Philosopher's Stone, which has more than paid for itself by now and been a big help with hp and mana regen, but also gives you more health, more hp and mana regen and will max out your cooldown reduction. The active also has great synergy with your other items and abilities. Of course, you have to remember to use the 3 actives, but they will make you quite the beast as you use your R on the tank and Q and W abilities to bust down your opponents. Plillar of Filth is especially great in the jungle, but combined with your other items, Trundle can really slow down the other team.

Standard items fort AD heavy team:
Philosopher's Stone >> Shurelya's Reverie

Standard items for AP heavy team:
Philosopher's Stone >> Shurelya's Reverie

Final notes: If you don't want or need Shurelya's Reverie, Atma's Impaler, Sunfire Cape, Aegis of the Legion, Guardian Angel, Zeke's Harbinger and Infinity Edge are all good items, depending on your team needs and the opponents you face.
