The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
Now early game is the most important thing here. If you cant get kills early game then this build will not work unless your extermly talented at comebacks. When laning as volibear lane with an a assassins or high burst mages try to stick with assassins thou cause burst mages can get the kill before you. now early game remember to make yourself look vunerable(may requier you taking some hitsbut your a tank) cause they ll think "oh hes weak lets get him". When they go in for the burst or the kill on you remenmber your heal and your passive wait for your passive to start then pop heal to give you a signifacant boost in your health.
When fighting early game stick to one target and always go after it. Now your w(frenzy) is your nuke wait to use it when the target is at 20% to 30% health to secure the kill. Now remember you can wait for them to get lower but if you do then you could lose the kill to your teamate.
Possible combos that you can try with abilites/ Champions
One combo that is really effective is is Q(Rolling Thunder) and E(Majestic Roar) right after.
cause it throws your enemy to your teamate E slows them down and frozen mallet slows them even more.
Also another great combo is Q and Ghost cause it makes you extermly fast for chasing your target.
Lists of Champions that will help you get the kill
are great to lane with cause of there damage output and there silences and fears
build adjustments to the fight
for countering madreds its simple guradian Angle it will give you magic reis. and allow you to take all there damage and then be reborn at 50% cause your passive will give you health when your being reborn.
Now for high burst mages hex drinker the sheild will kick in right as your passive does and you will have time to heal to 60 % if your able to keep the mage away or if your able to kill them before the shield is gone.
Now if crit chance is making you and easy target replace the second warmogs with thormail then build warmogs follow with atama's
all of these runes are based on you getting tanky and and maxing your possible health in a real game.
heal is a great combo with volibears passive like i said before. and ghost is a great run away spell and chasing spell, but remember that if you are feed they will target you first so save those for team fights to improve your chances of surviving or getting away in case your team was completely destroyed.
This build is one i always use and have rarly failed while playing Volibear. However if you dont like the last two items then you can replace them with what you want but the warmogs are very important cause it makes your bite an absolute nuke to mages and assassin's
