Introduction

Hi folks, this shall be my first guide on MOBAfire. Sorry if it's a bit bad looking :)

Urgot is one champion that got forgotten much when Vayne and Caitlyn got released, he was not as fun to play and people gave him very few build options all rotation around the core Manamune and Brutalizer to be effective, which made him a boring champion. With this guide, i wanted to try taking him up for the shadows, he's powerful, useful both in lanes and teamfights, and very hard to kill.

Runes

Does Urgot really need tons of mana regen? In early teamfights perhaps, in lane? Not really.

With that thought in mind, i usually go for that rune build, as shown above. It gives a nice tankiness and damage output.

Masteries

Going more in depth in the defensive tree than in the offense tree, by doing so, i aim for max tankiness, but also giving him the damage he needs to not be ignored ingame.

Items

by building that way, im able to balance tankiness and damage at most times of the game. Urgot will fall out late game, but with this build, he tends to fall out later than with normal build.

Skill Sequence

Max out Q first for dat damage O.o

Max W right after to give you your awesome slow and tankiness.

Take 1 point in E at level 4 and max it last.

Take your R whenever it's available.

Summoner Spells

I personaly prefer Exhaust and flash, both can be use offensively or defensively.

Cleanse, teleport, ghost may works too.

Ignite is not really good due to Urgot's range, surge is not for him (not really an AA champ), no clairvoyance, revive, smite, promote -.-

Get heal and clarity if you're playing ARAM seriously. Shouldn't need it.

Pros / Cons

Well, no build is perfect, this one applies to this custom too.

Pros:
-More damage at the end of the game : around 330.(usually takes me 45-50 minutes to get full build)
-Over 4k HP, over 120 armor, around 100 MR. = tanky.
-By the one above, you can swap people with less risks.
-Very easy to dominate in lane after you get a few basic items
-Some support for the team with Shurelia ( or another item like randuin, Frozen heart )
-Fast, very fast. *with shurelia and youmuu's speed buffs*

Cons:
-Less mana regen, you need to use your spells with more parcimony.
-A bit less CDR than the ''normal'' urgot build.
    -Need to farm.
    -Cost more overall
    -Weaker to Madread's Bloodrazor
    -Less powerful in lane.
    -Less mana/armor/MR than usual build

Farming

With that build of mines, you need to take care early to mid game about your mana running low fast. That means you need to last hit with AA's as much as you can. I generally only use my Q to finish cannon minions and to harass opponent(s) a lil. If your jungler gives you blue, or if your support is soraka or has Mana Map/Soul Shroud, you should be fine though to farm a lil faster with Q.

Some tips.

[*] Urgot may be a fat ugly ***, but he's also pretty slippery. If you get ganked, wait for the jungler to try to intercept you at the end of the brush, then swap him to get away .

Don't do this on Olaf or a jungler with QSS, just run and slow him

[*] Try to find a repetition in your opponent(s), some run in circles, some back & forth, sides to sides. Find it, then fire your E, and QQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQ.

[*] Care about who you swap, and where: I dont think your team will appreciate if you swap someone like galio right on them.

[*] Fear Janna's and Gragas'.

Conclusion

Urgot is still in a good place to own games with, be you playing him as a solo top or a ranged Ad bot (shouldnt be put mid unless to counter counters). He's not only useful as a potential carry but also as a tanky *** and as a team player.

Hope you liked my build, feel free to comment.
