I'm sorry to tell you, but that build is not the right one for veigar ! I've had 1600 ability power with Veigar :) but that's with my own build ;) if you want it, add me on League of Legends; coenobitic, or send me a message and i may share it with you :D p.s: I'm a girl-gamer and hope u're jelly :-)

Great Guide! I recommend you put more AP Items because you barely have like any AP items in mid game. You have way too many mana based items, which Veigar doesn't really need if he stacks Doran's. ALl in all, great guide! Remember to add PICTURES, very important in ALL TYPES OF GUIDES! +1

Indeed maxing the Q would be beneficial for that last hit assistance, but by level seven (or higher) is when the final part of the laning phase begins, and in order to kill the enemy champion in mid lane, you NEED all the damage you can get from your Dark Matter. Baleful Strike has decent damage, but your Dark Matter will help you a lot more the earlier and more damaging it becomes. However, if you feel maxing Q would be best first, then do try my build way, then the max Q way and tell me how it works! :3

The reason I make him get Rab later is because the power of DFG compensates for the lack of damage items. with these runes and base AP from DFG. Usually in all my Veigar games I have anywhere from 100-180 AP. Naturally this synergizes with the DFG, but I do understand you need damage quick as Veigar. thank you for commenting and perhaps I should change Athene's to after the Deathcap? I was thinking a newer Veigar will feel mana-hungry, hence the time one gets it. But where would you suggest I put the AA and boots?
