I just won two games with this build, did a few double/triple kills with my Ult and saved my team in a lot of teamfights. This guide is AWESOME! I'll post the pics from my victories later when I get home from work.

Just a note: Hemoplague doesn't increase damage to enemies by 18%, now it's 12% only, need an update! Congratulations on your guide btw!

I would add an optional Spirit Visage for survivability (Health Regen, CDR and Flat HP) if you need it only, but its actually an awesome build, thumbs up.

face rolled enemy team. i was literally smiling at the results. 12/3/4 match:victory. this should be rated higher than other builds. i mean this is the first game ive ever actually enjoyed playing vlad. norm its hard and no lie i do kill and become broken late game. but my presence in this game was terrifying. end of the game before they surrendered, i literally said this" look 2 free kills." next thing i know i flash over a wall hit e then w then q follow up with ignite and auto and instantly got a double. this guide/build made me giddier than a school girl . ty for sharing this with the community.

How is this guide "Ideal?"
Ult doesn't do 18% damage anymore.

Cause that's not what that means.

It just means that it's been updated/editted recently.

i respect your opinion, the same happens with buying haunting guise, it's an excellent early/mid game item but you will change it for abyssal later on...
if you farm well minions, keeping your cs (minions you kill) above all, while killing some champions on the way i think its perfectly viable to skip it... sv is cheap for what it does (cdr and mr is important) but not the healing part of it...
if your the kind of guy that buys annie 3 dorans and then sells then later on, then get haunting guise and sell it later... it does so much more than sv... thanks for the feedback, take care :)

Spirit Visage, I believe, is unfairly rated in this guide. It' not an end-game item, it's an early-mid game item. It's cheap, provides nice durability (only Vladamir's ultimate is unaffected by it's healing increase) and gives valuable CDR. You sell it later on, but for the early/mid game, it's fantastic.

@MonkMiroku
Quoted:
If you're up against champions you know can surpress you, you should be playing safer anyway and consider getting tenacity treads.
what?!? I've checked your guide and it's all about magic penetration, wouldn't your whole nuke>survivability theory be screwed by mercury's???
Dude play some ranked and revise your guide, rylai's crystal scepter is a must have on Vladimir... This is, even if it didn't have the unique passive you so dislike, which btw in team fights makes everyone slow because of vlad's ultimate, so no-one flees :)

I made a full out guide for my build, if you want to check it out. Only issue I have with using Rylai's for more HP and CC is all of Vladimir's skills will only slow 15%, and only for a short time. Hardly worth it. If you're up against champions you know can surpress you, you should be playing safer anyway and consider getting tenacity treads.

It really depends on playstyle. I prefer to get the most damage I can and kill before being killed, since Vladimir is an unstoppable nuke most of the time. The passive just works as a buffer to help not get one shotted.

2X rebadons is very expensive, but not a bad investment. You loose out on 40AP (before bonuses) no matter what you get. If you're against double wincap, Zhonya's Hourglass would be the way to go for a second Sanguine Pool like effect, and armor.

But im done, I'm not going to fill up your guide with my own theories lol.

I get what your point is but if you want to reduce magic resistance get: boots t2 and abyssal scepter and with runes, you will already deal true damage to all but tanks, and that is enough. If you're not getting rylai's you'll be lacking survivbility.

Play 10 ranked games with that build and you'll see that you either get insanely fed or you will feed hard! Either way, if you can be a very strong mage, while being tankish, it's so much for your benefit. With your build, you get suppressed by a malzahar and you die without giving any damage to the teamfight!

In this build (build 1) you're getting more a less 4k HP, 100 MR and ARMOR!!!

Thanks for the comment anyway :)

PS: 2 RABADONS is a waste of gold. rabadon has been nerfed recently anyway!

Whilst CDR is useful for early game, it doesn't make Vlad get to his full power. The build I normally run is:

Rush Hextech Gunblade
T1 Bots
Upgrade to T2 boots, then WotA or vice versa depending on which you need (survivabiliy or damage)
Haunting Giest
Rabadon's Deathcap
Abyssal Scepter
Rabadon's Deathcap.

Reason bieng is if you hold on to the giest, you have 60MPEN BEFORE runes, and around 70 with. This means that even Tanks are taking massive damage from you, and squishes you're dealing true damage. The reason I say get two rabadons is because the AP is unmatched. You could use it for a rylai's scepter, but 15% slowing isnt really worth it to me seeing as the pool does 40% on its own, and even your longer range spells like Transfusion, the slow doesnt last long enough to actually catch up. The double benefit from the passive makes you get around 100AP and 650HP after doing all the math with rabadons and stuff, but thats nothing in comparison to almost 200AP per rabadon.

MPEN is the way to go.

hey, thanks for voting and comenting. If you read my whole guide you will see that I have talked about replacing Void Staff with Abyssal Scepter and add a Zhonya's Hourglass :)

[-]
Ferrovial (47) | July 31, 2011 6:43am
And one more thing. Think about replacing Void Staff with Abyssal Scepter and add a Zhonya's Hourglass in your build for defensive purposes. Abyssal scepter is great on vladimir, coz he is more like a point blank mage, with his sanguine pool, and tides of blood, so you get the best of both worlds. Some armor on the Hourglass is always welcome, based on the fact that you need to be close to the center of the fight, and you may get focused.

Exactly how I build Vladimir. Are you in mind lol? I like how you chose defensive masteries over the utility, something i will do too, from now on...

Oh an one more thing!
Good work.

Hey, of course you can, especially if already have them bought (so you don't waste extra IP) I just feel AP/level (Greater Glyphs of Force) are so much better. And here's why:

Until about level 7 Vladimir isn't aiming for kills, he is aiming for farming! If you transfuse the enemy char, you will be hardly harassed (something you can only heal in 3-4 transfusions (before hextech revolver)). At level 7 with Greater Glyph of Force you already have 1,19 AP for each glyph winning over 0,99 of flat AP glyphs!
Conclusion: Greater Glyphs of Force are better! Only use flat AP glyphs if you already have them bought and don't want to waste IP on that.

PS: The same doesn't happen for quints because Flat AP give 5 AP each and per level AP give only 3 AP level 7
