Hi, i got a question, why do you take morellonomicon over archangel's staff. since that would give you around 140 ap at lvl 18 ( late game should be where you shine as a xerath) and gives you a shield (when tear is full) to give you that little bit of survivability so your team can get them off you before you get bursted down.

other then that, i use a build that is quite the same. just that i go for the echo abit earlier on.

Unsure why you wouldn't recommend rylais over liandry's? Xerath scales so incredibly well with AP, I don't understand choosing to give up a bunch of it for a relatively minor burn.

It's not just the burn that matters, the magic pen helps more than the 50 extra ap.

Is this guide updated for season 5? Or theres no diffrences?

There were no changes for Xerath last patch, so the build should work fine. If there are any changes, i will of course update my guide. However, the price of Morellonomicon went up so it's not always the best choice for a first item. You should still get it most off the time unless you're against heavy ap, or if you think you will need a lot of mana.

P.S. Love the build btw. I use it in my games and it does very well!

Well you should go for athene's first if you feel like you need MR, you can get more defensive items like Liandrys or rylais ( for the hp ) or even banshees if you really need the MR.

And thank you :)! I appreciate it!

Abyssal Scepter is no go because it only gives a mediocre amount of stats and the passive is useless since you're a ranged poke mage. Abyssal is mostly for ap assasins/tanks. Ranged mages benefit much more from a Athenes or any other ap item.

Why not Abyssal Scepter. Can you elaborate a little on that?

On APC's you should never be getting a Triforce its damage passive is based off your AD not AP and even if it did as xerath you are supposed to stay out of your nerfed 525 auto attack range so it would be completely and utterly useless
