Hello, hello!

I've just came back playing LoL and therefore couldn't forget about one of best site out there about the game: MOBAFire! Hope you guys are doing fine.

Would there be a feature, or at least a scripting method, in order to allow for some duplication automation (copy-paste) of a Build in the same Guide? I've seen a thread about that question, but it's from 2011. That would be for splitting content, making variations without having to re-do everything manually from scratch, and even testing alternative presentation styles of a Guide. Note: depending on the amount of content and the structure of a Build, it would be an overwhelming task to do it manually (that is the case of my Lulu JG Guide; and I'd need to make duplicates several times ideally).

Thanks;
Best regards.

Hey @ Lulu Mushroom Teas!

Sorry for taking a while to reply to your question. What parts of the guide would you like to duplicate exactly? I do agree being able to duplicate some things would make guide creation easier and faster, I'll see what we can do! 😁

Hey, Hades4u!

No worries.

So, in the CHOOSE CHAMPION BUILD section, when visualizing a published Guide, there are at least two cases in which duplicating a Build would be relevant for me as an example:

1) The most conventional example would be this one: I have an Item Set template reused on each of the Builds in my Guide (Lulu JG), which actually start at πŸͺ«πŸ“‰ PTA-Oriented [ 4 ] tab until πŸ”‹πŸ“ˆ Magician-Oriented [ 13 ] tab.
Eventually, I have to make a new Build, and then, without a copy-paste feature, I must recreate the template from scratch.
Another situation is that, sometimes, I have to update the template itself and that would affect, naturally, all the Builds; but doing this manual update of the template for each of the Builds (10 Builds currently) is 10x work. In this sense, duplicating a Build with an updated template, or duplicating a Build with an updated but empty/fresh template, won't solve everything for each Build (as I'd still have to tweak, or fill in with, Items respectively), in terms if organization, it's much better and safer, because if I make a mistake on a duplicate, it is still much better than making a mistake on the original that serves as a backup (I know I can Save, but I Save so often it is difficult to tell what is the correct version to recover).
Currently, I don't have the immediate need of revamping my Item Set template for the Builds, but I understand at some point in the future it might be a good idea to do so, also because the game is dynamic. But I already understand I'll probably have to add a few new Builds that I didn't considered before that now makes more sense to exist (Conqueror, Electrocute, and Guardian Keystones); of course, this relates to the way I organize the Guide.

2) The other case (not for Builds exactly), is that I have the πŸ”“ Basics [ 2 ] tab, that I would probably want to separate its content into, perhaps, 3 different tabs (the original tab contains so much content in the Items section, it's hard to navigate there even for myself on published version). However, without some sort of copy-paste Build functionality, I would have to manually recreate from scratch the content to be split. For example, I'd like to split its whole Item Group:
πŸ—ƒοΈ 1ΒΊ Item Choices' Categories for Lulu JG for πŸ“¦ Patch 13.11,
to place it in a new, separate Build/tab; because this is the most fundamental thing to the Guide. Yes, I have already done this kind of separation manually, it's the πŸ“© Import Generic Item Set [ Build Index = 3 ], however, this is a simplified version and without emojis (which are great in MOBAFire presentation, but they bug out at least during LoL games).
Note: if we had a duplicate Build/tab functionality, I could also recurrently copy-paste the original πŸ—ƒοΈ 1ΒΊ Item Choices'... to πŸ“© Import Generic Item Set... (and adjust simple presentational things) everytime I update the former, instead of having to update them both inside of the Item Sets, which is far more complicated.
From the πŸ”“ Basics [ 2 ] tab, I'm also considering taking appart into a new tab, altogether, both these Item Groups:
πŸ₯ STARTING & πŸ‘œ ACCESSORIES
πŸ›οΈ First Recall: Prime Components
And for the last tab I'd like to split from πŸ”“ Basics [ 2 ], it would something more theoretical, incluindg these 4 Item Groups:
πŸ”” 1ΒΊ Item Choices β€” Some Prudent Specialties as Lulu JG
⭐ MYTHIC ITEMS β€” PURPOSE: GENERIC 🎯 / AS THE πŸ₯‡ 1ΒΊ ITEM / AS A 🎁 LATER ITEM
πŸ’  LEGENDARY ITEMS β€” PURPOSE: GENERIC 🎯 / AS THE πŸ₯‡ 1ΒΊ ITEM / AS A 🎁 LATER ITEM
πŸ‘’ UPGRADED BOOTS β€” GENERIC 🎯 PURPOSE / AS THE πŸ₯‡ 1ΒΊ ITEM / AS A 🎁 LATER ITEM

Yes. I think then, the πŸ”“ Basics [ 2 ] tab would cease to exist; be polymorphed (turned) into 3 tabs instead, which titles I'll have to re-think but πŸ”“ Basics I, πŸ”“ Basics II, πŸ”“ Basics III is good to start with.

Of course, ideally, ideally, copy-pasting portions of an Item Set would be the best feature, instead of the whole thing (the whole Build/tab). But copy-pasting portions is a feature that not even LoL Client has got; but it does provide duplicating feature for Item Set.

In conclusion, duplicating a whole Build is, most probably, a very interesting and reliable feature to have in MOBAFire.

Thanks for answer. Take care;

Hey!

I've made a note of your suggestion and will check with our developers what they think. Thank you for taking the time to write all the information above, you're great! 😁
