Hey guys, I have this problem with my PC where my programs crash occasionally. And I mean all programs on my computer. Not just your typical "x has stopped working", but I get a lot of bug splats with League, Firefox crashing and asking me to report this to Mozilla (which never works because it's still been crashing to that), and I get frequent blue screens. I also do get the "x has stopped working" a lot. Anyone know what's wrong with my PC?

If you know what you're doing:
  • Burn Hiren's BootCD or image it onto a bootable USB. Scan your system for Malware through MBAM/Spybot.
  • If infections are found and resolved, boot normally, see if problem persists.
  • If problem persists, check hard drive status through Victoria. Run Memtest. Also bench your GPU to verify that it's not throwing errors due to defective VRAM or something.
  • If hardware problem identified, replace said component.

If you don't know what you're doing:
  • Download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and run a full scan. If it finds nothing, move onto the next step.
  • Run chkdsk. Google for instructions.
  • Install HWMonitor and check your temperatures.
  • If HDD is at fault, back up all data, replace hard drive, and reinstall.
  • If temperatures are abnormally high (exceeding 60C idle, exceeding 80C load), clean out the dust in your computer.

Actually lemme make another thread real quick.

EDIT> There, done. All relevant links are in there.

Satella said it pretty much.
I wouldn't bother with the Malwarebyte's Anti-malware tho, because the first step involves cleaning that anyways :P

It sounds like a RAM problem to me. I've experienced a lot of those in my days :(
So do that memtest (called memtest86+).

This is a list of everything you need to fix your computer. If you use all these and the computer is still ****ed up, it's time for to format it or throw it in the trash.

rkill (if needed)
Unhide (if needed)
Hijack This
MalwareBytes
MSE
CCleaner
PC De****ifier
Defraggler (I don't have a reliable download for this)
Spybot S&D (I don't have a reliable download for this)

DANGER **DO NOT USE THIS UNLESS YOU HAVE USED EVERYTHING ELSE, THIS SOFTWARE CAN SERIOUSLY **** YOUR FILES UP** DANGER

Combofix- DON'T ****ING TOUCH THIS UNLESS YOU HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING ELSE.

Combofix should not be used by unsupervised people. This honestly sounds more like a hardware problem than a malware issue (which Combofix cannot resolve anyway), so don't bother with it.

Satella, do you know any program that can read/view .MCD file extension? Win'Design and MathCad aren't working for some reason.

And lol I used to spam Combofix every time my C:/ Hard drive got corrupted, back in the days.

What? MathCad should be working assuming that it's the correct file type (check header). If that doesn't work then I have no clue.

Yeah this isn't a malware problem. I scanned it a few times and nothing came up.

Also, what link do I click on memtest86? There's 3 download links. http://www.memtest86.com/download.htm

Well, are you burning a CD or making a bootable USB? Click the one that corresponds with the medium you're using.
