Banshee's Veil

Be careful with Sivir. Her spell shield will not stack with a Banshee Veil. Meaning, if Spell Shield is up and Banshee Veil is off CD, a spell will break them both. I would suggest not rolling this item on Sivir.

Also, this item is easily countered by someone popping a low power spell, thereby using up Veil's proc, and then nuking. However, the passive stats boosts to this item are still great for any tanky build.

I agree with Read, but it could be a lifesaver once in a while.

Personnaly, if i see Karthus or Lux on the other team, i buy a banshee. Could be life saver when Karth does his ult ;)

And be careful with AoE no-damage slows like Karthus's Wall of Pain. They don't break the shield but you still get the debuff.

This isn't ideal for most heroes. Unless you are using an Archangel's Staff... then you would have been better off with an Abyssal Scepter for your magic resist needs. This is due to the fact that you will have too much mana you'll never spend if you got a Frozen Heart on top of this(Neither of which add AP if you don't have the staff btw), on top of some nearly worthless +hp with +0 AP. So you'll have HP that doesn't help, too much mana, and 0 AP.(I assume you get a Frozen Heart, what caster wouldn't?)

So the bottom line is, either couple this with an Archangels+Frozen Heart, or get the Abyssal instead. If you aren't even a spell caster and don't want that AP+Spell pen, then why are you looking at this in the first place? Go get a Wit's End, Hexdrinker or something.(Why you'd put this on Sivir is beyond me. Even an Aegis of the legion would have been a better deal on that hero.)

This is so wrong. Banshee's Veil is one of the only items that you can buy on absolutely any champion in the game. It's best used on a few champions like Nunu and Katarina to block interrupts when channeling, and Ryze can get a lot of offensive power from the bonus mana. Other than in Ryze's case (or if you get an Archangel's Staff), this is a purely defensive item, and it's one of the best in the game. Full tanks will usually opt for Force of Nature instead, but you can use Banshee's Veil to protect squishy AD carries and AP glass nukers with the health, MR and spell shield. The reason you get this item over Abyssal Scepter is because it builds out of a Catalyst the Protector (if you want it early game, this is big) and it gives much better defensive stats than just a little MR. The manapool helps too, especially on AD carries since they aren't going to get that mana anywhere else.

Items that go well with Banshee's Veil include Archangel's Staff (thanks to the mana), Atma's Impaler (thanks to the HP) and even Zhonya's Hourglass, since the veil can block initiation CC and the hourglass blocks followup damage.
