I highly recommen this item to people that are

1. Low level players that can't afford mana regen glyphs
2. Mana problem and simply dont want to waste the rune slots
3. And are not going for mana boost on any other items

Essentially great for tanks or carrys that have a problem with having to go back too often. Plus it's pretty cheap. Casters should gain items later on or should slot runes for them so this item will usually be overkill on mana regen.

This item is absolutely perfect for Galio. That's about the only champion I'd recommend this on, tbh.

I used to think this item was really awesome when I was learning to play, but looking back now, its kind of terrible.

It gives you 1% more mana regen per 1% lost, so at completely empty mana you are only getting 100% mana regen bonus, or double your full mana regen. The item has 7.5/5seconds Mana regen on it, so at 0 mana you are getting 15/5seconds mana regen, which isn't that great.

Instead I prefer to build Eleisa's Miracle which gives "25 Health Per 5 Sec, 20 Mana Per 5 Sec. UNIQUE Passive: 25 Tenacity"

You are getting 5/5second extra Mana as well as 25/5second HP regen and a always helpful tenacity bonus to reduce debuff duration for only 410gold more than you would pay for the Chalice.

My point is that if you are going to dedicate a slot of mana regen, why not spend a little more and get more mana regen, tons of HP regen, and tenacity out of it? Plus you can sit on that philosophers stone and collect gold until you are ready to upgrade.

Right. But this Item is a cheap way to get insane Manareg if you combine it with the blue buff! With Swayne I can spam my abilities, turn on the ulti for almost half a minute (or over a minute with Archangels), turn the ulti off and am at half my Manapool in no time - thanks to >280 Mp5

I never had to bluepill or even leave the enemy base because the ulti heals me.

My exact thoughts. A miracle is better for pretty much everyone else. If you do want the Magic Resist, there are better options for that too, such as the Scepter or Veil. This is only really ideal for someone looking to stack as much as possible... aka Galio.

This item, love it. I alwasy use it on veigar, it's just perfect for early game lane sustain in any mana hungry champ, but on veigar, it's amazing. Just like having a heavy boost of his passive, plus, the magic resist alows you to take first blood much more easily, since i think you dont need AP early game to do heavy damage with this little genius of evil. And the thing i most love of it, it's riots new upgrade to it <3, Athene’s Unholy Grail. Late game, I feel like i still need the chalice but it lacks damage. Well, this grail it's just what i was in need for ^^.
