Clash Updates, New Rank, and More in this Dev Update

Removed Promos, new tier division in Ranked, updates to Clash (ARAM Clash Returning), Star Guardian Wild Rift skins dates, updates to Teemo and Lee Sin ASUs (Art & Sustainability Update), and more in this LoL Dev Update for June.

As a monthly habit, Riot just shared information regarding changes coming the next months in a Dev Update, and while this June edition did not come as packed as previous ones, it did shed light on interesting topics.

Topics such as the Ranked Changes coming  to the Second split, their Art & Sustainability (ASU) philosophy and process, and Clash Updates, but they also announced upcoming Prestige and Star Guardian Skins, besides the inclusion of an entirely new Division to the Ranked System.

Ranked Changes for the Second Split - A new tier division and no more promos

Riot is flattening its ranked population. What does this mean? They are going to spread the player base more evenly. As of right now, Silver and below make for 60% of the ranked population, something illogic compared to most popular games with ranked systems.

That's why they are changing in a way that skilled silver players are placed in a higher tier accordingly to their level. Doing this though, can create a situation where too many players are going to be in the highest tier of the game, Diamond+ and higher. That is why they are adding a new division tier, Emerald, placed between Platinum and Diamond.

Along with these changes, and that hopefully does not damage further the health of the ranked ladder, they are also removing promotion series completely from the game.

These changes are shipping towards the second split scheduled to start on July 19th.

Skin Updates - Star Guardian Skins from Wild Rift, new Ultimate Skin for Samira, and Prestige Skins

If you were excited about the Star Guardian skins being ported from League of Legends: Wild Rift, we are going to finally see them very soon in the live servers.

The first confirmed Star Guardians coming to the game are going to be Orianna and Seraphine, scheduled for LoL Patch 13.13. Senna is going after in LoL Patch 13.14.

Riot 100 pc nuggets also added that the Legendary ones: Star Guardian Xayah and Rakan, are going to take longer than usual because of how difficult these are to adapt. You will need to wait for the rest of the Star Guardian skins until later in the year.

A new Ultimate skin is planned for this Summers Event

For this Summer Event, we are getting a brand new ultimate skin. Although the theme is not yet disclosed, BigBadBear, a famous leaker, shared the possible theme and it has something to do with Soul Fighters and tournaments for the strongest, and well... Samira fits perfectly.

We do not have yet images for the upcoming skin, but as the new 2v2v2v2 game mode is planned to release in PBE at the end of June, we can look forward to getting newer information very soon.

Crystalis Motus and Prestige Skins

The Mythic Shop theme is changing to receive the new skin line: Crystalis Motus.

Crystalis Motus, a world where once-lost magic is slowly returning in a new form—you guessed it, crystals. But adventurers beware, attempting to harness these new crystals can lead to a dangerous outcome.

Instead of having the Ashen Knights, with the new Crystalis Motus, interesting to point out that this skin line will feature female champions.

Crystalis Motus Leona

Crystalis Motus Leona is on PBE.

Crystalis Motus Leona is already on the PBE. For upcoming champions receiving the mythic theme skin, Taliyah and Ashe were confirmed in the dev blog.

Talking about champions getting new skins, the Upcoming Prestige Skin list is making a return. Below is a list, so you can check below which champions are getting a Prestige skin soon.

Updates in Teemo and Lee Sin ASU

Talking about prestigious things, Riot shared more information regards Lee Sin and Teemo ASUS (Art & Sustainability Update).

While they did not share any new images of their progress, they did share the possible release. For Lee Sin, he's planned to release very soon at this half of the year, while Teemo is going to be moved to the second half of the year.

They also pointed out that these dates are not final, as these champions both have extensive lists of skins and the team needs to make sure each champion ASU is up to par.

The Dev team released an in-depth article about the progress of making ASUs, with a lot of the goals for each champion ASU, along with the directions they are taking.

Changes to Clash - New Rewards System and ARAM Clashes

First off, Riot is changing the frequency of Clash, this is to the improve quality of each tournament, and to address better the technical issues.

Clash League oF Legends

The frequency of Clash will be from bi-weekly to monthly.

The other relevant change is to the Rewards System, according to Riot Brightmoon, most teams were dropping after losing in phase one, making the experience Clash worse for those who have to wait for matches to be played out due to forfeits.

To solve this, Riot is changing the Rewards System to give rewards based on total wins throughout the tournament, and not team placements. This possibly may encourage players to play the entire thing, as always, time will tell if it changes something.
