League of Legends Early Patch 13.22 - Graves nerfs and Janna's Mini Rework

Briar and Graves nerfs, huge Janna Mini Rework and Mid lane attack speed QoL. Follow all the details on the upcoming League of Legends Patch 13.22

While Worlds is going full force with the Semi Finals teams spot being locked down (T1 vs JDG is going to be a banger), Patch 13.22 continues the new trend of changes following up the Anti-Snowball and Jungling changes from 13.20.

In this patch, the biggest changes are going to be to Janna's mini-rework and the attack speed buffs to Mages. Apart from these, there are a few nerfs to most OP champions (Graves and Briar) and minor buffs.

There's a lot to be unpacked so without further ado let's jump into the changes.

Top

The nerfs and buffs from the last patch are being reversed: Dr. Mundo and Tahm Kench.

Tahm Kench nerfs

Unleashed Kench did not last much

Tahm Kench's last patch buff made him way stronger than expected. To push him down a bit his An Acquited Taste (Passive) bonus health ratio is decreasing from 5% to 4%.

Dr. Mundo's nerfs from the last patch were too harsh so in this one, he is getting some of its power back.

Blunt Force Trauma (E) bonus AD from Max HP is increasing from 2-3% to 2-3.4%. No big deal.

Bot (ADC and Supports)

Hexbombs were destroying the bot lane champions (And mental…) way too much so Ziggs is receiving a nerf to his base armor (This won’t do much, maybe against Pyke?).

Senna nerfs

Senna is destroying the KR ladder

One support that was dominating the bot lane, especially high elo, was Senna (With her Lethality Setup).

She’s receiving only changes to her Piercing Darkness (Q), tuning down both the base damage and healing.

Lastly, on the bot lane changes, Nilah is receiving a massive nerf despite not being a popular pick.

Apparently, her scaling and damage was too OP in the lower ranks so both her Formless Blade (Q) and Apotheosis (Ultimate) are receiving small nerfs.

  • [Q] Formless Blade Attack Speed reduced 10-60% >>> 10-50% (based on levels 1-18)
  • [R] Apotheosis damage over time bAD ratio reduced 28% >>> 20% (base and burst damage unchanged)

Jungle

Graves nerfs

Graves is too tanky

The extra Pet AD ratio buffs were a move that helped champions like Master Yi to be viable in the new jungle after changes in Patch 13.20.

However, these slight changes turned Briar and Graves into God tier picks.

Acting accordingly, Riot is nerfing both of them to make things fairer in the Jungle.

Briar nerfs are mainly to reduce her power in the lethality builds, and part of her kits that made her way too strong in lower brackets of play.

  • Base damage reduced 60/100/140/180/220 >>> 60/95/130/165/200
  • Target's armor reduction reduced 10/14/18/22/26% >>> 10/12.5/15/17.5/20%
  • [R] Certain Death explosion damage reduced 150/325/500 (+110% bAD) >>> 150/300/450 (+75% bAD)

Graves is the other way, instead of damage he was too tanky while being an amazing duelist. His armor is getting nerfed this time.

  • [E] Quickdraw True Grit bonus Armor reduced 4/7/10/13/16 >>> 2/5/8/11/14

Lastly, Rammus buffs were an overreaction to the new meta to compensate the armordillo players he’s receiving a neat buff to his Defensive Ball Curl (W) bonus armor.

Mid

Kassadin nerfs

Rift Walking out of the meta

In a world where the game pace is way slower, champions that scale take over 3x amount of games so Riot is nerfing them. Aurelion Sol got the hammer in the last patch, now is the turn for Kassadin.

  • [E] Force Pulse AP ratio reduced 85% >>> 80%
  • [R] Riftwalk AP ratio reduced 60% >>> 50%

These aren't as big but will for sure impact the performance of Kassadin in the highest brackets of play (Diamond+).

Moving over to the largest changes in Patch. Mage Basic Attacks speed.

According to Riot Phroxzon, this is a quality-of-life upgrade for mid lane champions who relied on using the Attack speed shard to feel "good".

Champion Adjustments

Wrapping this up with all the adjustments, Janna's is a big one.

Brand Jungle

More players are trying out Jungle Brand, and is lowkey broken!

The Brand Jungle changes were a huge success, but not enough so they are buffing him even more.

  • [P] Blaze Ablaze monster damage ratio increased 220% >>> 230%
  • [E] Conflagration damage adjusted 65/90/115/140/165 (+55% AP) >>> 60/90/120/150/180 (+60% AP)

Gragas in the late game is a Body Slam (E) machine. This gameplay is frustrating for champions who want to fight close so Gragas's E is receiving a nerf.

To compensate, Gragas Body Slam (E) cooldown is better early and his Explosive Cask (Ultimate) travel time is reduced.

Seraphine bot lane was still a thing even after changes from the last patch. Because Riot wants her to be played more on the Mid lane and as a Support, she's getting further adjustments.

  • [P] Stage Presence damage adjusted 4/8/14/25 (+7% AP) >>> 5/10/18/30 (based on level 1/6/11/16) (+5% AP) (breaks-even at 50/100/200/250 AP)
  • [Q] High Note increased damage threshold increased 5% per 7.5% (capped at 75%) >>> 5% per 8.5% target's missing HP (capped at 85%)
  • [W] Surround Sound shield AP ratio reduced 25% >>> 20% AP

Janna Mini Rework

According to Phroxzon, Janna's play experience has gotten less satisfying over time so they are reverting her previous changes and switching things up for her.

Janna Mini Rework

Zephyr damage is going to be busted!

Instead of all the power focused on hitting your channeled Howling Gale (Q), Janna now has more damage on her Zephyr (W) along with adjustments to her Eye of the Storm (E) shield (No longer decays, less duration, etc).

Lastly, she's getting tweaked numbers in a lot of her base stats, the most relevant one is her Attack range increased to 550 from 500.

Passive Tailwind now deals bonus Move speed magic damage on basic attacks and Zephyr (W).

Overall, these changes are both buffs and nerf to the Storm's Fury. How this will impact her performance in the bot lane? We shall wait for Patch 13.22 to go live on November 8th.
