Increased attack range on melee champions is bad?

Lets say you build Rapid Firecannon on a melee champion, like for example, does it benefits in any ways or is just a bad item to build?

Notice it says +35% range. Melee champions do have range, but it's small so the increase would also be small. You can go to the rapid firecannon page and see a bunch of questions answered there.

Aside from that, unless you can use the crit+attsp and the unique passive (I believe rengar's jump gets increased range, or poppy's shield throw, for example) you shouldn't use it in a serious build. Personally I can't think of a melee build that could abuse the firecannon.

It's done on Rengar and Ekko for example because they have ways to increase their range and firecannon works with that.

Actually, aside atk speed, Garen do use critic and MS, as his ability actually crit. But any melee champ which use that kind of stat ( Yasuo for example) will just benefit more from ol' Statikk Shiv
