Is Udyr an acceptable champion in the current meta?

Pretty simple question, Udyr is my wannabe main and I was wondering if he was good or weak to the new meta. Also, if you don't mind what is the current meta really?

Meta-wise? Definitely not. There are a lot of better options out there for jungling. I think he's quite weak relative to other champions.

However that doesn't mean you can't play him, or even main him. For the vast majority of players, playing to the metagame only gives you a small edge over your opponents. Most of what's required to win is personal skill. You can easily carry a game as Udyr if you're good at the champion.

If you're worried about what people will think, or whether you're allowed to play him, just go for it. If you find the champ fun then don't let the meta stop you. However if you're looking for strong or easy picks to win with, then I'd look to someone like Sejuani instead.

The current meta seems to be revolving more around support-type or rather tanky champs able to make plays or stand like a wall between their carries and the enemy team. Whereas Udyr, the ones I've played against, are more 1 v 1 focused and as the game goes one the Udyr hunts for enemies for a little 1 on 1 or split pushing a lane. The AS on-hit and tanky build seem to be the way. As for his ganks, there are other champs who can make better plays, Sejuani, Gargas, Ivern etc...

Udyr Is quite an interesting champion. Not quite part of the meta anymore, but still a versatile champion that can bring a lot for your team, while being a off-tank with a CC skill.

The point about the meta is that the meta champions are usually a bit stronger. But when it comes to the fields of justice, your skill is what mostly defines how your game is going to be.

I personally like champions that are out of meta, because they hardly get banned, and can really surprise your enemy, since he's not usually picked. For example, we all know Master Yi, but do you know what Skarner does? Most players, before the FW had no clue, and even those who knew had to take a while to remember.
