League of Legends (LoL) Question: Refillable Potion Support Start?

    Refillable Potion Support Start?

I've seen some supports start out with a gold gen item and Refillable Potion and it seems to have some mixed results.

I've seen supports utterly fail in lane presence and get pushed out after using both charges or doing weird things like building it into a Hunter's Potion and I haven't seen anyone build it into a Corrupting Potion. They generally waste the item slot and get stuck on item components.

When I tried the start, I just sold the potion almost immediately after the first back in favor of item components and Vision Ward.

The start was seeming like a noobtrap and I was wondering if there was any merit to it.

Seems bad to me, but if you do start it, definitely DON'T sell it early game. The point is that it has to get more efficiency from refilling on recalls to even be close to worth it.

I would still just start a bunch of biscuits because that seems way safer to me early game. You could lose lane off of that difference in sustain.

Same reason why Cull sucks. You risk losing early game for a minor mid/late game benefit.

That's pretty much what I thought as well.
    I've never tried it again.

To be honest, refillable potion is not good however it has its own benefits.
Like above, each recall will refill the Refillable Potion
But on the other hand, it lacked the stats for any kind of support. It doesn't assist your ADC like any other support starts like Relic Shield, once the potion is empty you have to either recall or sustain yourself both mana and health.
The start is fairly weak on that build. An early Vision Ward is ok, if really afraid of early ganks, but the typical starting support item with health potions are much better.
