First of all it mostly depends on your jungle champion, some are better for early game so are better for mid game and some for late game, so you need to know your champion and how he works. (ealry will try more to counter jungle or ganks soon or 1v1 the other jungle..., late will try to deny feeding and playing team fights and so on...)

My main advises as jugnle (secondery role), are:
    1) do not force a gank, if you can't gank it, don't do it.
    2) If the other jungler stronger, do not try to 1v1 ask for assist or leave him your camp and go do other and later maybe counter jungle him back.
    3) Do not stay too much in lanes, you get behind when you stop to do jungle camps (happand to every one) you get EXP by killing champs or being neer minions death. (exept very late game if you must group up)
    4) If you see minions under tower and the laner can't get them, go for it free exp and gold, if you have camps do them do not let too much camps be undone, the sooner to clear it the faster and more it will apear, so raptors for example do not leave alone so you can get most of them.
    5) Time your ganks with your jungle rote, you should have map awerness and see which lane you will most likely be able to gank (especialy with low mobility jungler), after you know which lane will be one, try to jungle on you way to there or after, for example (if you the south team) bot side need gank and they are pushing, do red/raptors before the gank and the other one after (better to do red for the fight) or even the crab for vision control.
    6) last thing you may want to do it to tell what you want to do to your team, by pings or writing "red then bot" so they will bait the gank, or ask them for wards or summoners spells, or even ask if kayle still have her ult so you will predict what can happend.

think this are most of the thinks, you can ask more specific questions if you want or find a way to show me your game and i will give critic for what you can do better.
