Dragon

What is the dragon?

The dragon is a high level neutral monster who gives global gold to whichever team successfully kills it, along with a small bonus for whichever champion lands the killing blow.

It is located in Summoner's Rift, and it is the second most powerful neutral monster after Baron Nashor .

This article is for the dragon in Summoner's Rift alone. For the dragon in Twisted Treeline, go to Ebonmaw .

Dragon Information

The dragon in Summoner's Rift spawns in an alcove in the middle of the lower river between the middle and bottom lanes. It spawns at 2:30, and it has a respawn time of 6:00.

Killing dragon gives each champion on your team 190g, with a 25g bonus for whoever landed the final hit. This is roughly worth 6 entire creep waves, making him a high-value target. He is also worth 400 total experience, though the experience is not global.

His attacks add a damage over time effect, as well as a 20% attack speed reduction debuff. He is also immune to crowd control effects, as well as armor and magic resistance shred effects. Furthermore his damage can't be decreased.

He has 3030 + (220 * highest champion level) HP, 190 AD, 21 armor, and 30 magic resist.

Dragon Strategies

  • Try to keep dragon warded. He is worth a significant amount of gold and experience, so it is important to keep tabs on him. Pink wards serve this purpose well because it allows you to clear the enemy team's wards and reduce their vision.
  • Dragon is the reason why the bottom lane is usually the duo lane. Securing the dragon is a high priority.
  • If you see the enemy team making an attempt at dragon, try not to let it go unchallenged. In the early levels especially, dragon will weaken at least one of the enemy champions. Dragon is also an easily ganked location.
  • Remember that the team that lands the killing blow gets the gold and experience. Try and land fast skill shots on him to steal it if your team can't challenge for it, or attempt to steal it with Smite.
  • Alternatively, someone from your team should have Smite to prevent it from being easily stolen. Dragon is worth about 2 champ kills total, so don't let others steal it simply because no one on your team took Smite.
  • There are a few junglers who can handle dragon at low levels, but it's not common and never easy. Try to get help from the two in bottom lane to take him down.

Dragon can also be taken solo by Fiddlesticks at around level 5 using Drain, if he has blue buff.
