I really hate the purple side. I don't know why, I think its the camera view and it it really throws me off my game. Is this Natural, does this happen to anyone else? Are their any solutions to it?
Just to let you all know, there are options in the menu to remove the empty 'wall' area in the HUD and also options to scale it down. Most pro players turn off the wall area and scale the HUD as small as possible. Mine is as small as I could get it without making the writing unreadable.
Keeping the field of view off of the character is tough for me. Perhaps when I get a better PC it will be easier.
This is the problem that occurs:
I'll see Sivir or another long range in bottom. I know I'll need to "unlock" my camera, or die. I can never seem to find a map scroll speed that works. Either I go to initiate and accidentally scroll some place completely different, or I just lost myself in the screen and have no idea what is going on.
I think if I played with the camera unlocked all of the time, I may get used to it. Not sure, but as for now it is damned near impossible for me to do with any amount of skill whatsoever.
They could make it so that the screen faces the same direction no matter which team you are on. I also hate being purple, especially with the snow covered ground when I couldn't see the turret from the top lane and got caught a few times too close to the damn thing.
Yep I totaly agree it is because the HUD covers a part of the screen so the enemy also has a slight sight advantage, wich can be disastrous on bot lane. I guess you could fix the HUD or something?
It's still advantous regarding dragon and stuff but I don't find that superior...
When I play sr im almost always the jungler or on the purple side. I hate jungling on the purple side... Every single time I go to the lizard bush insted of golem bush... Once when I was laining and my health was low I went to the blue base instead of purple :/
If you have your camera centred on your champion, it would definitely be a big issue. Try to place your field of view between you and your opponents, rather than wasting screen space on your tower, for example.
I don't know if that helps you, but it's worth mentioning.
I think a lot to do with the purple side sucking so badly is screen area.
I.E. when you are on purple side, you have the HUD, Chat Box (although it is movable) and Mini-Map blocking most of your view of the enemy. Champions like Ahri, Ezreal, and Sivir can skillshot you completely off of the screen, which I think is frustrating as hell :/
It'd probably be hard as hell to put in a new camera angle for purple team though :/
Most people prefer blue, but purple has some advantages to it. Top lane can be easily guarded by a single ward (by the entrance to their blue, around baron), top can receive a level 2 gank after red, and your team can steal baron over the wall and pull dragon away from the enemy team.
The downside of course is a bit of a more dangerous bot lane, no dragon-wall-jump escapes and you can't fight at baron very easily. It's also tough to hand off blue to your top laner (if you have a vlad mid and swain top or something), since it's on the other side of the map. The camera is a bit annoying too, but I've never really considered it a big issue.
I don't think there's really a solution to it other than getting used to playing as the purple team. You can arrange teams in a custom game, but in matchmaking you're going to have games on both sides.
Blue side: 3kills, feed, miss every stun and skill-shot..
I have the opposite problem oO
Also, don't play with locked camera, it's bad.

I love purple when playing top or jungle.

Purple side, I miss all my skillshots
Blue side, hit every single one.
