Tier 1:
Gragas, LuluYou can generally get away with firstpicking these champions every game for different reasons, they are strong all-around, hard to counter and can't be countered fully.
Tier 2:
Shyvana, Irelia, Ryze, Aatrox, Renekton, Jarvan IV, Nidalee, Lee Sin, Dr. Mundo, Trundle, JaxStrong champions but they lack the allaround power that tier 1 toplaners possess. They are all amazing in soloqueue if played effectively(not trundle lel).
Tier 3:
Rumble, Kayle, Singed, Vladimir, Yorick, Yasuo, Riven, Lissandra, Tryndamere, Pantheon, Zac, Rengar, Kennen, Akali, Shen, Malphite, Warwick, Karthus, Darius, Olaf, Urgot. The average. Some of these are amazing soloqueue picks but lack the safety needed to be amazing in competitive play. Most of them are great to be used as counterpicks against certain champions/comps while others are just weaker versions of tier 1/2 champions.
Tier 4:
Lucian, Karma, Teemo, Xin Zhao, Zed, Vayne, Nasus, Elise, Wukong, Poppy, Garen, FioraCan work ok in soloqueue but other than that they are far too weak in order to see play more than once a year competitively. These are picked mainly by one-trick ponies and rely on cheese in order to beat their opponent. Their weaknesses are far too big and therefore they get wrecked by coordinated teams. Some of these are just bad versions of higher-tier toplaners.
Tier 5:
Shaco, Nocturne, Heimerdinger, Quinn, Gangplank, UdyrDon't pick these against a good team, ever.
Insanely strong laner, amazing 1v1, amazing 1v2 and amazing when forced to roam through lanes and jungle. Weak when behind due to being fully reliant on stats, but shouldn't fall noticably behind because of how safe he is. Relatively weak endgame.
Largely based on utility making her effective even if behind. Is a small lane bully who can safely farm even if she's behind due to a long range and defensive spells. This means that she doesn't really have any big weaknesses other than being even or at a disadvantage vs Ryze 1v1. Loses to Yorick although she shouldn't be at a disadvantage anyway in later stages of the game in comparison to Yorick.
Great laner versus all melee champions especially with the new Blade of the Ruined King, loses some of those lanes but should outscale anyone but Trundle, Irelia, Jax and Aatrox when it comes to 1v1ing. Is great at splitpushing because of her waveclear and 1v1 lategame(E + blade too strong). Good teamfighter once she gets sticking power through Randuin's Omen and Blade of the Ruined King. Gets owned by a lot of pokey ranged champions such as Kennen, Ryze, Vladimir and Lulu. The problem is bigger now since laneswitching got nerfed.
I completely agree with you. Not only is he strong in lane but he is also incredibly easy and (imo) boring to play. I think Lulu is really strong against him though. I think that Irelia is favored against him. And I've tried Zac and i believe that he is slightly favored vs Gragas. The lane should be pretty even but i think that Zac is much better than Gragas lategame, a better version even.
Building a good mix of AP and survability, rushing Rod of Ages and taking Iceborn Gauntlet will make Gragas deceptively tanky and still a serious threat in terms of damage. I know a guy who mains Gragas and really brings out just how strong he still is in right hands, as a top / mid laner.
Why is elise so low on every tier list, I'd say she should be mid tier 3 D:
I've literally rushed sunfire on her, completely outduled and outsustained 90% of my matchups with only this item and then the attackspeed steroid let me butcher towers almost as quick as ad top laners :(
It's not that much about Elise being bad but i think other more popular toplaners completely out-do her, for example Lulu. Please take some of the rankings rather lightly as its the first time i make it. I'm gonna figure out something in order to make Elise's placing more sensible.
Come to think of it i don't feel like she fits in the current metagame. Most toplaners beat her 1v1 except for a few as for example Shyvana but even then Shyvana should always win level 6+. Karthus is a worse toplaner but he can still be picked if the composition/matchup calls for it, since he's so incredibly strong lategame, and a global ultimate isn't too bad. I can't think of any situation of where Elise would go over other champions.
I seriously hate Gragas top. Hate him. HATE HIM. Go play Ryze or something like that...

I've seen how Joxuu builds his Teemo (which I usually do as well) and I actually think it's pretty good. Gives him utility and damage, just has that thing where early game you can be shut down quite hard.
An old teammate of mine reached challenger with Teemo, and before the AP ratio nerf we used to play Teemo in ranked 5's in pre- challenger because of how much damage his shrooms dealt. He would literally win teamfights solo when the enemy team walked on 2 or more shrooms in a fight. I have taken into consideration that in a perfect teamfight, Teemo can be absolutely gamebreaking. However, once we started getting higher and the nerf kicked in we immediately stopped playing him, since each time we would the enemy team would camp Teemo, negating his lane dominance completely, and follow it up with sweepers and banshees veils. Not to mention that especially since the nerf, regeneration and lifesteal can completely negate the damage a shroom deals, and one shroom is very important for Teemo in the later stages of the game.
The nerf was a bit too much for Teemo competitively, 0.3 AP ratio is absolutely huge. I mean even before the nerf he was only seen once on LCS, and that's because of how risky and easily countered he is. His first level poke is incredibly annoying but after a few levels he stops winning against a lot of toplaners. Not to mention that he's incredibly bad 1v2 if the enemy team decides to lane-switch in order to counter him.

I think you accidently put Teemo in wrong tier.
yeah, but i really think that he doesn't deserve more than tier 4. AP Teemo is very easy to counter, if you remove his shrooms hes nothing, and any hard engage like Vi means that he dies. AD teemo is just.. bad. I am going to add pros and cons to every champion to better explain my decisions throughout the tiers. Will start working on it now.
