Today, chaos struck home here at Runeterra when a wave of unexpected complaints flooded the office of the tribunal. According to what the tribunal publicly released, over 60% of these complaints were from jurors who felt that many of the cases brought in are being unfairly ruled by fellow jurors. These complaints weren't the only thing to hit the tribunal, a wave of copies of the cases the jurors were complaining about flooded the secretary's office of the tribunal. The cases examined were all records of summoners who were put through the tribunal and found guilty of the crimes they were accused for, despite having done nothing wrong. It's not an uncommon thing for a summoner to be found guilty of accusations their peers bring against them, however, most of these cases sent in were cases brought against summoners with baseless accusations. To get a better understanding of where this frustration was coming from, we took our investigation to the jurors meeting rooms.

"It's simply out of control!", yelled Felix White, a popular figure of the tribunal community who is known as the 'white knight of defense' among many. "The recent cases that have been assigned to us have been absolute garbage and a travesty against the very tribunal system! The people making these accusations are the ones that should be put on trial, not the ones accused." White immediately took us to his record room and pulled out a multitude of cases that have recently been assigned to him, and to our surprise, his rage along with many others was not unfounded. He presented us with a pile of cases where the accused party was found guilty, and to our amazement, we couldn't seem to find out what the accused was guilty of! "It's one thing when a summoner abuses the summoners code, but it's another thing when over half of our own juror community can't uphold their duties and properly follow them through! They're messing with the lives of innocent people!", explained White as he pounded his fists into the table. He threw a folder filled with cases where the accused were found guilty of baseless crimes, two of which we've included below in our article that seemed the most obvious that the verdict of guilty was given poorly.

Case outcome: Guilty

The cases seem to be a little backwards when we viewed them. The wrong people were being reported and convicted. The crimes were almost nonexistent and yet, people were being given warnings and restrictions from the battlefield because of these cases being poorly tried.

What we've discovered from the cases provided to us from Mr. White, a large majority of these cases have been improperly judged by jurors who aren't properly carrying out their duties. These jurors, known as a runaway juror (Given to them for 'running away from their responsibilities'), simply take cases that have been assigned to them, pass the time by not reviewing the case, then automatically vote guilty after their case review time is over. It's not too much of a problem if one or two people do it, however, if enough jurors collectively begin doing this, it begins to snowball, slowly creating a force strong enough to completely change the outcome of a tribunal case. We took the case of the angry jurors to the halls of the tribunal to get their outlook on the situation.

We met with a tribunal head in regards to this growing case. "We knew something like this would happen, however, there is sadly no way for us to properly regulate all of these cases" explained the tribunal head who wished to remain anonymous. "We understand that this is a problem, however, it's a problem that we sadly cannot regulate in our current state. The Tribunal is a growing system that grows with its volunteers. All that we can do is encourage the fellow members of the Tribunal jury to vote responsibly and fairly."

It's a fair enough statement, for the Tribunal is hit with hundreds of cases every day and there isn't enough man power in the Tribunal to go over every case. That is specifically why the Tribunal opened to begin with, to give power to the men and women of Runeterra to try their fellow comrades who step out of line and to help relieve some of the workload off of them. "It is very unfortunate to see people exploiting the Tribunal system for the IP reward we offer for their time, but unfortunately there is just no way in the world for us to check the integrity behind each decision made by each summoner." There were thoughts of implementing a rune system to the tribunal, which monitored if the juror checked every situation in every case and read through the dialogues of every report, however, plans for this were recently shut down due to the rune systems inability to function properly over extended periods of time. "I'm sure that over time we will be able to perfect a method of stopping runaway jurors in the future, but for the time being, all we can do is urge the summoners that use the Tribunal to ensure that they're fair in their judgments and take their jobs as jurors seriously."

Felix White took it upon himself to bring forth some of the cases that he felt were the most unfair to the heads of the Tribunal, where a court hearing was prepared for each case. Felix White was assigned to be the defense attorney for each case he brought up. Felix successfully made his case and got every judgement that he felt was unfair overturned in the court, ending the punishments for many summoners. With men like Felix White on the job, the summoners of Runeterra can rest easy knowing that someone is looking out for them when they are unfairly prosecuted.
