I feel like people are too binary when it comes to OP champions. It does matter if the champion you play is OP, but it's only one of the many factors you should take in account. First and foremost, pick what you enjoy playing the most. If you enjoy playing Yorick and Galio pick again. THEN you can filter over OP-ness, but only if your champion pool is too big and you can't decide between a bunch of champions.

As a side note, there is a lot of mud in the way of knowing the OP picks too, so you shouldn't just assume a pick is OP based on win rate. Not only because of what Embracing said, since you can see the win rate for your own elo in some pages. Champions with different roles and/or playstyles, only one of which is OP; flavor of the moment picks; quick meta shifts; unpopular or just discovered broken builds; random variance over small amount of games (happens a lot if you filter dayly). All of those twist the win rate of champions, even if you filter properly.

My chart of use, in case you like this stuff: http://www.lolking.net/charts

I just checked your op.gg. Before I want to say that I have almost no experience with ranked but maybe my perspective gives you an idea. That said I think you shouldn't play Sivir. Not because of your KDA with her but rather her playstyle. She is in my opinion pretty team reliant. Every ADC is team reliant but she has an ultimate for engaging. And I think that's the problem! In soloq the communication is weaker and people react much slower. Probably, your team gets more often caught and you have to waste it for that. Wasting spells is no problem, however, it must give you an advantage.

If you don't trust your support I would suggest playing more Caitlyn. The reason why I like her is her long range. I can poke the enemy and farm safely. I do not need to rely on my support for me to get gold as long as he doesn't die.

Honestly, you should play Quinn. ***** on everyone if played well.

For mid I always recommend Ahri. She does nothing extraordinary good but she does everything. Roaming mids are good to snowball lanes. Furthermore, she has a game changing CC and mobility. The kit is very forgiving.
Currently, I think Kat is in a pretty good spot right now. I think she should be able to get you out of silver. However, you have to be really good with her since she can't carry late game without a reliant team. So, you have to stomp them pretty much.

For the other roles I have not enough knowledge. Hope my opinion helps you. My advice is to play champs that don't need much babysitting because you seem to have problems to fully trust you support. Til then gl in soloq :)

Lol. I play Sivir because of her Spell Shield, her wave clear, and her ult (which sometimes come in handy and sometimes as you say turns out to be a way to get people out of trouble and that is about it.

I play some Caitlyn, I dunno. I don't seem to get as much mileage out of her as some do.

You do not need to pick up OP champions to win soloqueue games. The fact that you listed sooo many champions tells me that you're either bad at all of them or you don't know which one's you're good with. I understand it can be boring to play only a few champions, but that's how you climb. Find the ones you love the best or the ones that work the best and put a lot more time into them.

It sounds like mid is your best bet as a secondary role. I suggest picking up to 4 junglers and 2 mid laners and practice and play those in ranked. The ones I kept in the list above are champions I believe can have a strong impact in soloqueue games and don't take absurd amounts of skill to play.

For example, your pool might look like this:

Notice how you can incorporate some meta picks (Shyvana and Vel'Koz have great win rates atm) without just changing your pool every patch to fit whatever's strongest in the meta.

Hi Psiguard, so how do you figure out if you are good with a champion? And why Mid as secondary?

You just kinda have to figure it out for yourself. If you can play a champion well consistently and you think you know how to abuse their power spikes and how to play against them properly. Mostly about knowing the mechanics of the champion and how to play him on a good level, consistently.

And you yourself suggested that your second best role is probably mid iirc :^)

Also, if you enjoy a champion that generally is a good indication as well. Enjoying the champion means you don't mind spamming the champion to learn it, resulting in improvement :)

Quick hits since there are a number of response that I haven't gotten to. I appreciate all the feed back. Thank you all. :-)

I didn't clearly state this, but the list of champions isn't my pool. I do switch around too much, but I don't switch out that much. Those are just champions that I feel like I have at least a basic understanding of with regard to how their kit works and pulling off their basic mechanics. Is it a diamond level of understanding? Obviously not. (sorry Janitsu, I don't get Teemo...that little furry captain of chaos and I just don't seem to click).

Embracing - appreciate the pointer that working on my known defects will be easier if I'm on a comfort pick.

Ekki - thanks to the links to the charts, I will give them a gander this evening.

Regarding Mid - picking mid makes it more likely that I'll get jungle on average with the way the Dynamic Queue currently works. But it does leave me in Mid from time to time. I've primarily been playing Annie or Morgana there, but I find I struggle with dealing with assassins. Either I get my *** handed to me (fu Zed) or the Leblanc that I've outfarmed and stymied from getting kills in lane just roams and murders my other laners despite my repeated pings that they are missing from lane. This is has made me somewhat gun shy about Mid lane.

Top lane I definitely need to work on my individual match-ups, but I feel more comfortable Teleport ganking than I do roaming from Mid. Though to be fair, I do try to roam from Mid if I feel like I'm in a position to do so.

Don't forget you can run tp on most midlaners as well if you prefer tp ganks over roams

That is a good point. Thank you.

An aside, but also following your comments on Vapora's Tristana guide and I'm appreciating the point about grabbing your support as jungler after taking the Bot tower and going to deep ward making it safer to siege the mid tower and or help neutralize the enemy jungler by knowing their position. It is something that utopus has mentioned to me as well (but your explanation helped further my understanding). Good schtuff!

1. As was said many times, greatly reduce your champ pool and roles. Become good at a few.

2. You know if your good with a champion if you play a statistically significant number of games with them and have a winning record.

3. Its harder to carry as ADC then other roles.

4. If you care about winning follow peoples advice, if you play for fun do what you want and play what u want. (Personally I only have fun if I am winning and rage when I lose even in ARAM) Its easier now than ever to climb. I have never been higher than silver 1 and now I'm in gold 2 and still climbing because of dynamic queue and the ability to spam the champs I enjoy playing and can play better than the people at my ELO.

5. Your teemo build is outdated. Tankmo/rageblade teemo is where its at.
I used to care about KDA, now I care about CS and Objectives.

Considering you also play top lane, this can be extended to top/jungle as well.

Basically, if you have a 2v2 (top/jungle, top/mid or both) lead(1) your jungler can start living in that quadrant of the enemy jungle. Because you have a winning matchup, you should always be able to either arrive before the enemy laner does or win a fight. Below an example, based on this game. I'll go over it step by step below:

  • Note the 2v2 matchup: Renekton + Vi against Yasuo + Twisted Fate, this is a very good matchup for us. I should always be able to push Yasuo in and after level 6 Vi can duel Twisted Fate.
  • I won my matchup very hard, I think I was about 2/3 kills up on Yasuo and took the tower by 10 minutes. While this is of course an extreme example, something similar or to a lesser extent might happen in your games. Even if I was let's say only one kill up, we could've still executed something very similar to this below.
  • At this point I told my (premade) jungler to start living in in the blue-top quadrant of the map. We simply set up wards around that side of the jungle (bushes around blue and mid) to make sure we wouldn't get collapsed upon 2v3 and some pinks to clear wards. Because we had so much pressure, we could also constantly prevent them from getting the wolf-smite for vision.
  • The result is as follows. Basically, blue team has lost full control of that quadrant of the jungle. This results in either of the following: 1) TF loses half of his farm and can't gank top side 2) TF tries to contest farm and gets killed because I push Yasuo into tower and we kill him 2v1 3) Even if we cannot get full control, I have my jungler around to countergank my lane.
  • What we ended up doing was as follows: first, we set up the vision. Then, I pushed in my lane. Then we either zoned Twisted Fate away or killed him. Then we put Yasuo in the difficult position to give up an inner tower 1v2 or try to defend (we got both). Then, when they played more carefully, we roamed mid and took the tower there after having pushed top in again to prevent Yasuo from roaming. The result was that we got 8 (although 3 of them were solo kills in lane) kills on this small part of the map and 3 towers (2 top, 1 mid) within the first 14 minutes.

In short, this is how you snowball your lead from toplane in an optimal world. As long as you communicate with your jungler and constantly back each other up, this should easily snowball your lead. While I wouldn't say this is what you should attempt to do when you win lane because the level of skill, knowledge and communication required is probably more than what you'll get, it is probably good to understand how this works. Let me know if anything is unclear!

Please stop giving advise like this, it's nonsense.

It is literally called "AD carry", so I find that point hard to believe without arguments to back it up.
