Introduction
Hello everyone, welcome to another of our article series covering the Season Finals of the LEC. In this article, we’ll go over the results of the past weekend and look to the future as we take a look at the standings and ponder the games to come. Last weekend, two teams were sadly sent away, while another two will duke it out tomorrow for a chance to join the MAD Lions and G2 Esports in Montpellier.

Oksi753 has dethroned last week’s finest coach and snagged the throne for themselves, boasting 95.2 points - more than 40 points above the average. Oksi753 has a rather eclectic team with two G2 members in the forefront, this year’s LEC MVP Yike in the jungle and Caps mid lane. BDS’ Labrov is in the support role, while two Excel members round out the team. Though they put out a hell of a fight, Excel has unfortunately been eliminated, so these two members will need to be replaced as soon as possible; though, of course, only one sell token is available.

Team BDS vs SK Gaming
In the first game of the day, BDS started off hot. First Blood was donated to Adam as the whole of BDS lunged at Sertuss before minions even spawned. Things cooled then and no kills were gotten until BDS engaged on the Rift Herald. Sertuss scattered three members of BDS with Weaver's Wall and SK was able to kill Sheo, though the Herald was secured by Adam. Twenty minutes in, BDS were holding a steady lead and managed to secure three dragons to SK's nill. SK's greatest asset was Sertuss, who was 3-1 and picking enemies left and right. After securing a pick on Crownie, SK grabbed Baron, equalising the gold lead and allowing them to go on the offensive.
At the 35 minute mark, the game was SK's to lose. They had secured Baron once again, and had managed to deny BDS the soul twice over. At the 38 minute mark, Ocean Dragon spawned once again, and this time BDS were able to get there first. SK were unable to steal it and, worse yet, their late engage after cost them Irrelevant's life. Now 4v5, BDS went for Baron, killing it swiftly, and they were able to engage a fight right after, taking down Sertuss. It would take just a couple more kills before BDS was able to finish the game, all off the back of being able to take the Ocean Soul and kill Irrelevant just a few minutes before.
While game 1 slipped through SK's hands, game 2 was BDS all the way. Adam and Sheo ganked mid lane to secure First Blood onto Sertuss once again, setting up nuc with an early lead. Fifteen minutes in, the score was 6-3 for BDS and gold was even, but Crownie was getting stronger and stronger, and BDS were, as ever, on top of Dragon control. Just five minutes later, BDS was on soul point, and Crownie was 5-2 with two items completed. Having taken down Markoon and Doss, BDS secured the Ocean Soul and advanced towards the Baron. There was nothing SK could do as BDS stormed their base a few short moments later, and game 2 came to a swift end with BDS finding themselves at match point.
Adam couldn't secure First Blood a third time as Markoon and Irrelevant took him down just as the Ornn hit level six. The action would continue top lane, and by 11 minutes Adam was 0-2 while Crownie, Irrelevant, and Sheo all had a kill each. Twenty minutes in, SK held a small, 1k gold lead, and were ahead in kills. However, BDS still held all the cards in terms of objective control, having three Dragons and looking to secure Cloud Soul when it spawns. Before that though, BDS were given something better, as Sheo engaged onto Doss in the mid lane just as Baron spawned. BDS were able to take down three, including Markoon, and secure Nashor 21 minutes in. Suddenly, the game was in BDS' hands. The gold was equalised, and before the Baron buff expired, BDS had acquired a 2k gold lead. While the game would go on for another ten minutes before BDS ended the series, it was that fight and that Baron that sealed the deal for BDS. They were then able to take Cloud Soul, the Elder Dragon, and another Baron Nashor before finishing the series 3-0 and securing top 4!
Sunday Recap: Excel vs Fnatic
The final team to make top 4 and get a chance to make Worlds would be the winner of our next best-of-five - Fnatic or Excel Esports. Excel has beaten Fnatic before and they knew they could do it again. In game 1, Excel took the lead, securing First Blood on Abbedagge and the first two Dragons. However, by the 15th minute mark, it was Fnatic with the upper hand, having just freshly gotten a Double Kill in the top lane and acquiring a 3k gold lead. From that Double Kill on, Fnatic just kept snowballing. Twenty minutes in, the gold lead had grown to 6k and Fnatic was able to deny XL their third Dragon. A fight erupted then in XL's top side jungle that decided things for good. Razork engaged on LIMIT, and, after a somewhat disjointed and prolonged fight, Noah got himself a double kill and Baron became totally free for Fnatic. It would take another Baron Nashor and a Quadra Kill from Oscarinin, but XL never did recover from that early skirmish, and game 1 went to Fnatic.
The loss didn't discourage XL at all, as LIMIT flashed onto Razork before minions spawned and secured FB for Odoamne. Odo made great use of this advantage, and was 4-0 15 minutes in. XL had more going for them than just this veteran top though. Excel were also able to stay on top of dragon control and get their marksman incredibly fed. Fnatic wasn't done quite yet though. Just as XL was gearing to take Baron, a fight ensued and Patrik found himself on the wrong end of an Ivern root. Fnatic instantly collapsed onto XL's strongest member, and got two kills. Now a 5v3, Fnatic, perhaps greedily, tried to take the Baron too. They secured it, alongside a hefty objective bounty, but by now Noah and LIMIT had both respawned and were in the river. After all that, it was XL that held the winning hand, as Patrik nabbed a Double Kill and kept going for more. Fnatic was aced, and soon their base was taken by XL, who equalised the score 1-1.
XL was looking to keep the momentum going, and Peach ganked the Fnatic bot lane 4 minutes in to that end. However, the Jinx Naut combo was stronger than they expected, as First Blood went to Noah as well, who killed both XL bot laners and Peach to boot. XL was able to take revenge 10 minutes later as Peach ganked bot once more. Teleports started channelling and Peach's hammer pushed Razork far away - suddenly FNC was in a 3v5 and XL was able to get two. This let XL catch up in kills, gold, and dragons. They carried the momentum, and 22 minutes in, XL took down Baron. Fnatic arrived late to the scene, but engaged nonetheless, getting one kill but ultimately still falling behind XL, who was 5k gold ahead and sieging bot lane. They pushed out the bot lane, then mid, and took down members of Fnatic as they came at them, before finally tearing down the Nexus and reaching match point.
A slower game, Razork and Humanoid nearly took First Blood 5 minutes in but Abbedagge was able to safely retreat under his turret. Out of the fog, Trymbi flashed in and secured FB for Fnatic. XL took their revenge though as Peach ganked bot, and Patrik got his first kill. Twenty minutes in, only 3 kills had occurred and both team had one dragon, though Fnatic had been nursing a small gold lead through sheer map play and CSing. A fight finally broke out over the Chemtech Dragon. XL secured it, but FNC were able to secure three kills and get some much needed gold onto Noah. With several members dead, FNC went for Baron, and their gold lead grew to 6k. 28 minutes in, a second Baron spawned and XL knew they couldn't let FNC get this one too. They ran towards it, but Trymbi was able to hold the line as Razork secured the Smite. XL felt they were too deep to retreat, but the following fight was a disaster. FNC took down four and bulldozed through XL's base, taking us to Silver Scrapes.
Trymbi secured First Blood once again in Game 5 to start Fnatic off right. Like before, the game slowed down substantially after that, both teams understandably fearing an end to their 2023 run, but things heated up about 15 minutes in. Fnatic was itching to dive bot lane and, having been spotted in the bot side jungle, Odo popped his Teleport to join in. It quickly became an explosive 5v5 that ultimately went into XL's favour. Only two members of FNC made it out alive, and this at single digit health. Twenty minutes in, XL held a small gold lead and wanted to wrestle dragon control away from Fnatic. Fnatic tried to stop them from taking the Infernal, but lost two members in the endeavour, and XL was still free to secure their first dragon.
Fnatic finally picked a good fight 23 minutes in, as Trymbi hex-Flashed into LIMIT's face in the mid lane. FNC was able to take down LIMIT and Peach and quickly made for Nash. By the time the second Baron spawned, Fnatic had accumulated a 5k gold lead and were on Infernal Soul Point. XL tried desperately to stop FNC from grabbing this second Baron and ending the game, but they couldn't enter the pit in time. Excel thought they could still take the fight after, but they couldn't survive in the face of Razork and Noah. Having aced them once again, FNC pushed out the top lane and secured top 4 alongside Team BDS, G2 Esports, and the MAD Lions.
