K. Time for a math puzzle.
You have two ropes. These ropes are not identical, but are both flammable. Both ropes take 1 hour to burn - however, neither rope burns at a constant rate. The rate of burning for both ropes is completely random but regardless, a rope will finishing burning in 1 hour. Another way to think of this is that burning half of the rope does not necessarily mean it will burn in 30 minutes, or that burning a third of the rope will take 20 minutes.
Given these two ropes and a way to light them on fire, how do you measure out 45 minutes?
This is NOT a trick question, so no stupid answers like "LOOK AT YOUR WATCH HURR DURR" or "USE THE FIRE AS A SUNDIAL"
