I'm going say first; There are certain champions who are slightly stronger than others.

There are certain games in which some champions are fail and another champ would be win.

BUT; At the end of the day...

It's not as much which champ you play, but more how you play it.

The most important thing is being able to fill the gap that your team needs. A lot of the time that means taking the least popular roles and playing champs most people don't like or are just too lazy to learn.

I started during that week kat was free like... 2 months ago? She was my first buy and I was like "aww yeah, AP carry, takin' mid!" but then my friends started playing a bunch of mages like malzahar, lux, and ryze, and they just simply do better than kat.

Then I bought Shaco. Aww yeah, the AD assassin. But then, wait a minute... my team just locked in (insert one of tons of fun ganky junglers)

Then I bought rammus and karma. There is a surprising lack of tank and support players, so I could always count on being quite useful at my role and cover my team's back. It was actually more fun for me than being another squishy carry because I was the only one in my role and I was a more unique character.

moral of the story: play who you want, but remember, the carry may look like the best spot because you get all the kills and look cool, but carry players are a dime a dozen, so the actual more important players are the supports.
