Pitty i answered too late than :P Well the speed one will ware of a bit slower :P but you will feel the "scratches" more. :) I realy hope you will like your decisions :) And if i would be at any assistance, please dont hesitate to ask on those matters :P
I just like their stuff, and support mainly. They treat players realy nicely. But believe me if i would find Logitech or SS better at something i wouldnt hesitate to buy something else.
I almost bought SS Xai this year. But i had that realy big luck of beeing able to test it for 2 days, man that would be a big mistake :P

MX518 is great mouse (6 years ago) :) As i am more of a claw gripper i picked Diamondback Plasma (Karna Precision 1600dpi) coz of this. Now 518 is just a good but not great mouse. G500 is way better, and for laser sensor it is realy good. G5 one on the other hand didnt fit my preferences, i liked Deathadder way better and it's optic 3g sensor (the 3500dpi one 3.5g is even better - atm my main mouse for low sens games - LoL for example) even if you are a claw or fingertip gripper it is just too good mouse to pass by.
And as i wrote it all depends which FPS are we talking about. For UT/Quake games neither 518 or G5 is not the best since its only 1600 and 2000 dpi so setting 1.0 would not always be possible.
