War in the North loosely follows one of the many backstories of lotr, most notably angmar and gundabad in the north (duh). it is a heavy action-based coop rpg (with singleplayer as well) that is the first lotr game to be rated m.
there are 3 characters, an elven mage, a dwarf, and a human ranger. coop online will be up to 3 players (one for each character) and if you have it on ps3/xbox 360 you can do 2 player splitscreen and even have a third person connect via online.
the game is made with coop in mind, a lot of the skills have been tailored to promote teamwork. in between each level you can switch out your character as well.

it looks good but i'd wait a few months for the price to drop.
