Hi,
Irelia is one of the funniest champions you can play, naturally tanky, great sustain and insane built in damage makes her a really strong pick if played right. However, don't expect to jump into a fight like a crazy madmen and get out of it alive just because of that, yes, her ult brings her lots of survavibilty in team fights, but there's a limit to that, I'd also add that she needs some skills to get her full potential. I actually had to main her for 4 months before finally managing to turn into that monster who can jump in, deal insane damage, get out, and come back again for the clean up.

I think Irelia is fairly balanced right now. She only becomes OP when she's fed,but that's like any other champion.
What makes a champion OP is when they're OP without being fed meaning they can own with a 0/0/0 score still. This is jsut my opinion.

She was never op. . .the " better nerf Irelia" joke comes for a time long ago when riot kept releasing op champs. Instead of balancing those champs, they kept herfing irelia and didnt touch the op champs. "oh Karthus op? better nerf irelia"

she wasnt ever OP. just ppl werent so sure about how to counter her.
In order to counter her, you had to buy Magic Resist+Armor+Health. And then realise you dont have any useful item by mid-game, and lose. She used to be overpowered as hell. She possibly got overnerfed, but she's still a very viable champion anyway.
Sure hope they dont nerf Irelia again...
