Before wins there are things you must do

"Winning is a byproduct of the things that you do before that. Focus on doing the things that enable you to win, not wins themselves." paraphrase of Danyon Toiga

Case in point - If the enemy is sieging your mid base turret and your Mid laner has to go back to the fountain to heal up from being poked down and your Support is trying to set up a Banner of Command minion in Top lane then you can't engage even if your ADC gets caught. You conceed the tower and inhibitor and wait for your ADC to respawn.

Guess who's back...back again

Hi all. Been a while since I've been here. And especially since I've written one of these.

Some of you may remember me as that dude with the average Katarina guide which has a lot of views just cause it's been out for a while. Or...well...possibly none of you remember me. I'm not sure how many of the old school members of Mobafire are still on here or are reading blog posts. But yeah basically, I know I often come back here for a short period of time and then disappear. And I used to feel bad about that but then I figured, why feel bad about it? I'm not really breaking any rules by doing it. Not hurting anyone by doing it. So why feel bad about it?

Well anyways, I dunno if I'm back regularly or if this post is just a one-off. But I definitely felt like coming on here and writing one. Sooo....what's been going on with me you ask?

Long story short, I was a contractor for Leaguepedia/Gamepedia for quite a while. 4 years would be the correct amount. But stuff happened within and now I'…

State of the Bot Lane: 8.6

What changed?
This patch, while not necessarily big, did make changes to quite a few champions and items. The focus of this patch seemed to aimed at primarily lethality users. More specifically it seemed to be aimed to the junglers. Almost all the changes to these lethality users were buffs or side buffs, so expect a lot more aggressive AD mid lane and jungle picks to be seen.

While this will undoubtedly effect the meta, bot lane had a few changes as well. For supports, Shurelya's Battlesong was added into the game as a alternative to Turbo Chemtank for non-tank supports. For ADCs

Jhin Mid

I was inspired to play Jhin mid while playing jungle with my friend who was mid facing against a Jhin who was mid (I was jungle, my friend was Kassadin mid who was versing against a Jhin mid). In the game my friend got bodied facing against a Jhin mid because he was new. The Jhin got destroyed early game by my Master Yi due to bad positioning, but I don't blame him because he kept killing my friend since he didn't know how to dodge skill shots. The Jhin was over confident and I punished him for it, at the end of the game we won, the Jhin went 23/11/4 and I went 27/11/8 as Master Yi. It was late at night so my friends and I got off because we had school tomorrow, I decided to stay up to grind homework and study for that really important Chemistry test until I felt like playing League again just to play Jhin mid, so I did. I logged on, entered draft, selected mid, and queued for the first game that would change my perspective on Jhin mid. When it was time to select my champion, I hovered…

Gank Selection

Tarzaned offers coaching of a Kindred game play for a sometime Master tier player.

There are several things to take away from this coaching session, but the one I found most interesting for where I am at is what to do when an enemy laner is running Ignite.

So you run Ignite for increased kill pressure. Other summoner spells tend to scale better later in the game, so that means you will want to use your Ignite to get kills early. That probably means a laner with Ignite is going to play aggressively.

As jungler, what do you do with that information?

How about camp the laner with Ignite? Watch them to see if they are playing aggressively. If so, be there in order to counter the aggression. When they fully commit and use their mobility spells such as

Me and My 3 Ranged Minions are Pushing

Some interesting points about playing ADC, but the main point of interest to me was pointing out instances when the person being coached should have reset to take advantage of an item spike or simply be safe and efficient while pushing.

A couple of the key points are discussed starting at 12:27, however if you only watch that you want to back up to when the person being coached and their support start their push in Top lane.

I particularly like the point about hey you only have 3 ranged minions which will only allow time for getting a couple of shots on the full health tower. Why not go get some vision (put down wards) so you are safer and then when your full minion wave arrives you can spend time sieging the tower if your wards don't tell you that you should be getting out of the area.

ok i have a question

ok so two nights ago i had an Urgot who dominated mid lane against my team, i know, rare but it works, i had the same guy again just last night then with his group as well, he called me scared even though i was playing my favorite champion Sona now, about 40-50 minutes later i started to kick their ***es and then won the game what's the most appropriate response to the whole game? they were being toxic as all hell and picking on me like everyone does but whatever but i still won by a very large margin so just what is an appropriate response to such toxicity?

my opinion on Kai'sa

I think that this new champion will be a great edition to this game especially as to how she works since there are some new things we haven't seen before like her ultimate, but i just get the feeling that she might be that little bit to powerful provided she gets fed that is i mean yeah sure every champion can hurt when fed but this feels different. her best Role could maybe be jungle considering her abilities being able to clear jungle monsters at a somewhat decent rate and her scaling isn't the greatest either which i think is fair until she gets Guinsoo's Rageblade or something along those lines of items. she could easily play other lanes and her engage is amazing but her counters are quite obvious to with stuns like Renekton
