Goals for Season Three

The upcoming season seems to be a sort of New Year's occasion for League players. With the elo reset (more or less) coming up soon, a lot of people are setting goals for the coming soon so I figured I might as well write down some of my thoughts as well.

1. Rank up my soloqueue rating (surprise, surprise)
This past summer and early fall I finally started getting into solo/duo ranked and working on my elo. Though I have limited access to decent internet at my college (basically just Friday and Saturday evenings right now), I was able to reach my goal of hitting gold before season's end and passed it a bit to 1608, which I'm happy with. This coming season, I'm setting my sights on 1750 as my target elo, with an ultimate goal of 1850 if I can improve enough along the way.

2. Re-evaluate and solidify my top champions in each role
I pretty much had my junglers down this season, but with the new S3 jungle as well as the significant item changes, I might have to re-examine my current pic…

Season 3 goals

As most players here on MOBAFire we have our goals for season 3. Now a real quickie before I get started, I blame myself this season for making myself stuck at 1200 ELO.

*Skip if you don't care about the story!*

So It was just a normal day, I got my steam back because for some reason it wouldn't allow me to log in for over a year. When I meet my friends again I tell them about LoL and what a fun game it is! Sadly, they didn't want to make EU accounts, so I had to move to the NA servers. Which, I still think they're douches for, because I had spent a lot of money on my EU one. I couldn't play ranked in season 1 because on my EU one I didn't think I was ready for it and once I hit ~28 on the US one season 2 just started. Once I hit level 30 though on the US account I jumped into ranked games as soon as possible... But I couldn't win matches for my life. Now, I thought it was my team mates, but looking back it really was myself. I jumped into ranked WAY too early so I pretty much wasted…

Season 3..

So I've decided that..if I don't get a good rating in Season 3 (1600-1800) then..I'm probably gonna quit league. I don't really want to and it's a fun game but I'm getting nowhere with it and there's a high chance I'll quit if I don't get better, improve and maybe join a team. I want to get into the competitive scene (and I'm sure a lot of you want to too) but if that's not gonna happen then I don't really see a point to consistently play this game.

Yeah..1600-1800 is a lot considering the fact that I'm in the 1100-1200 range but I don't really care. I'm gonna stop posting guides (i'll probably write blogs though) and I'm gonna stop screwing around and only playing ****ty normal games with people that can't even get past 100 cs after 40 minutes in the game (no offense to you guys if you are one of those people). I've already asked someone if he can teach me more mechanics of the game and I'll keep asking around. I'll probably search for some helpful info on mechanics and how to improv

What is good music? An academic approach

Hey guys, I'm making this blog post in regards to a conversation I had in the moba chatroom. Ardeon (I think that's his name, not sure) was touting Nightwish. I have a personal bone to pick with Nightwish. I was first forcefully subjugated to their garbage when they shared a stage with a stage I adore. At first, I thought they were intentionally raping my ears. Their music was uninspired, musically simplistic, uninspired, and obnoxious. Chick singer + boring riffs + uninspired lyrics = Ow my ears.

I checked out a vid he linked, and to my surprise, it had 5+ million views. This reinforced my notion of 'the majority of people' have a ****ty taste in music. He also touted that it was not only 'symphonic metal', but 'power metal' as well. Seeing as those are my 2 absolute favorite genre's of music, I corrected him, saying that just because they had a keyboard in the band, that makes it neither symphonic nor power. He linked me some wikipedia page about symphonic metal, which lists Nightwi…

Top Lane First Look (Top Facts Preview): Zed

These are just a few of my thoughts and impressions of Zed as a top Laner after a few games as him on the PBE.

Champion Overview:

Zed is an assassin type champion who utilizes hardcore juking and clones for his damage and survivability. Zed comes to top lane packing the ability to safely harass and clear waves even if the enemy is attempting to zone him. Zed does mostly sustained damage early on (Which I honestly feel is what an energy champion should do) and scales his damage into burst as the game progresses. All in all Zed is a high skill-cap, high risk/reward champion who rewards players who learn to play him very well.

Skills Overview:

Zed's passive is a bonus amount of % magic damage when the target is below 50% hp. This ability is really good for finishing off targets and adding damage to your ultimate. The main time you will notice this skill in top lane will be last hitting as the passive applies to minions making last …

Top 3 Favorite Champs in LoL and Why?

I've been curious lately if there are other Summoners like me who like champions not because of abilities, but because of appearance, lore, voice-overs, etc... So I'd like to ask others,

Who are your top 3 favorite Champions?

First, I'd have to say from the beginning of League to now... one of my top 3 is..

Shaco

Shaco was Batman's Joker of the game. And no not Heath Ledger's Joker, which I love, but the classic animated series Mark Hammill's Joker. His voice acting was amazing and I loved how he could just pop up and disappear, he was very mysterious in his ways. And to top it off, his running animation cracks me up!

Secondly, I'd have to say...

The Journey Begins.

Well then, a new day? Time for a new online game? I think yes (:

The game mechanics seem crazy here. Going to take a while, but hey, it's all worth it right?

Not much else to say really...

Other than: "Lets Rock and roll!!"

That Awkard Moment...

When eight people disconnect from a ranked game at once. O.o

I was playing Amumu jungle in ranked earlier and the most irritating, albeit slightly funny, phenomenon occurred.

I stole Wraiths from the enemy Jax and proceeded to take blue. I took wolves and my own wraiths and everything was fine. Teemo had taken double Golems, so I went for red. As I right-clicked on the Lizard, my game disconnected. My first reaction was 'oh **** this internet, man', did a quick alt-tab check and my internet was working fine. So I logged out the game and I tried to reconnect (it took two attempts for this, because I had to close my client too :s). Then as I log in it comes up with this queue with an approximation of about 2 minutes. I was so annoyed, because it would mean my blue buff on

I thought this was REALLY funny about Nasus

Because he's so easy to counterpick, no one really plays him.

Since no one plays him, no one plays against him in Normal que.

Decided to play Nasus for giggles, discovered they had no idea how to shut me down. I've been playing him off and on now and I boop the **** out of them every time because no one knows what to do anymore. xD
