Garen is a very strong tank. If built right at level 18 Garen can kill enemy champions while being attacked by an enemy turret. At first i wasn't sure if Garen was a good champion to spend my ip, but on my first game i was completely satisfied with him. All you have to do is spin to win!!

For Garen I choose the greater mark of destruction, the greater mark of desolation,the greater mark of fortitude, the greater seal of regeneration, the greater glyph of vitality, the greater glyph of focus, The greater quintessence of regeneration, the greater quintessence of avarice and the greater quintessence of furor.

I tried to make Garen very tanky by choosing mainly health regeneration, armor penetration and critical chance runes.

I also choose the greater glyph of celerity so even if u aren't getting a ton of kills your at least taking in enough gold to afford some of my build.

I choose a lot of armor penetration in offense just to insure you penetrate armor. I choose health and armor in defense just to make sure your the ultimate tank. Why would I choose anything in utility if i don't even have mana?? Well you see the mastery trees I choose for utility were good hands and improved recall. I choose good hands so even if you are feeding a bit (which you shouldn't be but if you are) you will be able to jump back into battle a little bit quicker than others. I chose improved recall so when your playing top lane and your level 3 and nunu is fed and ultis you can recall faster therefore getting back into battle faster than anyone else on your team.

Pros

Quite fast
lots of health regen
all moves good for dealing a ton of damage
every move except for ulti can help u flee from battle
at level 18 Garen can almost literally 3 hit an enemy champion who is ap such as ( le blanc or ziggs)


Cons

If you get ganked by the enemy team and someone on there team stuns you your screwed
Very bad carry
Can ks a lot and make team mates moody if you know what i mean.....

In 5v5 you want to go top or bot. In 3v3 you want to go bot. You want to be with a support type so you can ks off of them (but don't ks too much). As Garen you should try to be the highest level on your team at all times this will help you be the ultimate tank. If your not getting a ton of kills and it been a good 30 minutes you should start focusing on farming so u can get enough gold to buy some of the items i recommend.
