Champion Build Guide
Introduction
Hello guys, I'm MisterFirstBlood from EUW and today I'm gonna show you how to play Varus
Varus is a weird one. I feel like you can build whatever you like on him and it works, so its pretty hard to say what works best. I think the most generic build is still on-hit while lethality and AP can be better depending on the situation

Spells
Passive : Living Vengeance
On kill or assist, Varus temporarily gains Attack Speed. This bonus is larger if the enemy is a champion.
Q: Piercing Arrow
Varus readies and then fires a powerful shot that gains extra range and damage the longer he spends preparing to fire.
W
Blighted Quiver
Passive: Varus' basic attacks deal bonus magic damage and apply Blight. Varus' other abilities detonate Blight, dealing magic damage based on the target's maximum Health. Active: Varus empowers his next Piercing Arrow.
E
Hail of Arrows
Varus fires a hail of arrows that deal physical damage and desecrate the ground. Desecrated ground slows enemies' Move Speed and reduces their self healing and regeneration.
R
Chain of Corruption
Varus flings out a damaging tendril of corruption that immobilizes the first enemy champion hit and then spreads towards nearby uninfected champions, immobilizing them too on contact.
W: Blighted Quiver

Items
It looks like every build is working in different scenarios...
AP is amazing against tanks with tons of HP, Lethality is great against squishy targets and vulnerable champs without mobility and on hit/crit is very situational and lategame based.
The build paths are the following:
Lethality: Tear of the Goddess into Eclipse is your code. It allows you raw damage, armor penetration and enough mana. Round it up with more lethality like Youmuu's Ghostblade, Serylda's Grudge and Muramana.
Crit/Onhit: Galeforce or Immortal Shieldbow into Guinsoo's Rageblade and then either Phantom Dancer or Runaan's Hurricane, while it offers also defensive options like Wit's End. You can theoretically go for pure crit and avoid on hit effects but i think other champs might be able to do that more successfully so i avoid mentioning infinity edge or navori quickblades from here.
AP: Nashor's Tooth into Riftmaker seems to be the most solid combination of 2 items. From there you can build whatever you like because AP items offer the most variety of utility. Mejai's Soulstealer and Rabadon's Deathcap might offer the highest raw damage, while Void Staff will work wonders against tanks.

Runes
Also depends on which build you choose.
Hail of Blades is amazing with a lethality build with tons of AD and armor pen, while Lethal Tempo is better with On-Hit/Crit builds and Arcane Comet if you rather feel like a burst-poke champ than an ADC.
Inspiration with Magical Footwear and Biscuit Delivery is nontherless my favourite choice for second tree while the primary one depends on the keystone you picked. If youre in the yellow tree Presence of Mind is mandatory in my opinion, if you go Hail of Blades i personally like Ravenous Hunter and Taste of Blood for additional sustain because you might lack lifesteal in those kind of builds.

Tips
- Use E at the begin of a trade to deny healings in Fights. Do 3 Auto attacks and just shoot Q instantly to remove the Blight marks and continue attacking.
- R is easier to hit if your enemies get slowed from your E before.
- you can charge your Q ability while pressing W. Make sure you land your abilities so its cooldown gets refunded. Its easier to land them when your enemies are rooted by R or slowed by W / Red buff.
- Many people underrate the range of your ult. You can catch a lot of people with it but take care your team has a follow up for it.
- It's not generally wrong to attack what is in range instead of carries. You will melt tanks very fast with this item build so it's maybe better to kill the tank first then go out of position trying to kill a carry and die.
- Every of your abilities will trigger the Blight marks from your W passive. So if you didn't hit your E for example you still can use Q or R to deal the damage when needed.
- Red buff is very strong with on hit builds
- Dont channel Q among a fight. You will deal way more damage by attacking your enemies constantly.

Summary
Lategame varus is extremely strong against tanky team comps but he's also very vulnerable to ganks what can be very frustrating. It's a very varied and funny pick which still has a chance to success. Try it out and tell me your experiences with it. :)
Thank you!
