If your team is ahead and there is little risk of you dying, buy a dark seal for cheap AP and upgrade to Meijai's if you have 10 stacks. The insane amount of cheap AP you can get from this item makes your ability values very oppressive.

Build banner of command into teams with all AP solo laners, low damage top laners or tank junglers. Think Singed/Vladimir/Swain top with a sejunai jungle. Do not build against AD split pushers such as Zed/Tryndamere/Yi/Nasus. AP laners will have a really tough time getting lane priority vs your bannered minion and often their adc is forced to go to that lane giving opportunities to take objectives.

Build Zekes' Harbinger to give one of your carries more carry potential. When you use your ultimate to reset a fight, the hidden power of zeke's is unleashed and gives a nasty surprise of damage and slow against enemy divers.
Knights vow gives you alot more surviability and gives your adc more damage mitigation. Great against divers.

Frozen heart is when you want to make the enemy zed/riven/yasuo cry when they dive you and realize you have 100+ armor.
