Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
A revision of my First actual published build, so it's probably got some kinks in it; but that's me... kinky all over! <ahem> I'm trying something a little different than what it was before item-build wise, hope you like it.
The Champion Spotlight on Irelia is pretty detailed about what she can do, and overall she seems like she can be built in a lot of different ways; so there should be a lot of varied builds out there from AP, AD, Hybrids and Tanks. I'm going for an AD/AS build with some Life-Steal peppered in there at the end for late-game.
What I've read about Irelia since her release so far is that while Blade Surge is a great ability, at lower level you only really need the one point in it so you "get it"; then from there you max Equilibrium Strike and Hiten Style (making sure to take Transcendent Blades whenever you can) then slap your last points in the endgame into Blade Surge.
After getting some advice from a friend I thought I'd try out an Attack Damage/Speed Irelia, with Attack Speed and a smidgen of Life-Steal thrown in there.
After playing a few games with her I noticed that if you're laning with Irelia she seems to have a mana problem; it's nothing too major, but after a little enemy harassing, killing, you're mana feels a little low; the Manamune seems a perfect thing to take to plug the hole.
Taking her 21/9/0 so you can go for the damage but give her a little protection so she doesn't get "completely" gibbed (but you're far from a tank, think Assassin!). Not sure if that's the best 21/9/0 out there, but it seems to have what I'd like for this build. Any feedback would be appreciated.
Armor Penetration *flat* MARKS.
Attack Speed *flat* SEALS.
Cooldown Reduction *per level* GLYPHS - Can be substituted with Health.
Armor Penetration *flat* QUINTESSENCES - Can be substituted with Health.
Exhaust - Always good for Damage Champions, while Irelia can be a good chaser with Blade Surge alone, that's not always going to be off Cooldown, and other people also have things like Ghost and Flash, so it's nice to have the ability to snare them down if they try to get away.
Teleport - Getting to a destination faster after a death, or being able to respond pretty fast for a gank or protect is pretty useful, and 90% of the time I run with Teleport on most characters because I'm so used to having it. Can be swapped out for things like Flash or Ghost if that's what you prefer.
Well, that's it for my revised first build-post, hope people like it and give it a try; I certainly will be when I can get enough IP for all my Runes. I'm not the best Irelia player, I've played against ones that have squashed me flat... but its all practice, getting better!
Good luck and have fun,
