Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
This guide is for you people like me who faceplam at ap sions who run around with their "1k shield that does 3766.54564 dmg divied among 5 champs in a teamfight" I can safely say Sion is my main and I have watched other Sions blow worse than a leaf-blower. This guide is made not only for the ap sions to learn and awe at but also for you so you can tell those usless sions how to fix their gameplan.
Pros / Cons
3 Hit squishies
7 Hit everyone else
Turret dives like a boss
over 100 atk by level 3
all overall cc's
Ok, I'm being honest here, I don't focus on runes. I use the same ones for all my champs. feel free to call me noob but I never got THAT into the game to focus on building ONE champ up with runes. I use standard atk speed, crit chance, crit dmg, mama regen, and cdr runes.
21/9/0 for my Sion. I feel the tankiness of the defence tree is nice. Especially in early game where you get poked non stop
Dorans Blade for the health and atk Beserkers greaves for the atk speed, vp for sustain PD for more atk spped and crit Atma's for armor and crits and more dmg Warmongs to be a meat mountain and better atma's Bloodthirster for that little extra *umph* and cloak and dagger for atk speed and TENACITY
*REMEMBER* All builds are subject to change depending on what your up against. Don't be afraid to play around with items. Go ahead and throw that random Last whisper in there if you want, or that manamune. You go for it! Don't like that bloodthirster? Starks ferver it up then Mon Frere! Need more defence? Throw that FoN or Thornmail in there!
Passive: Feel No Pain
Sion has a 40% chance to ignore up to 30/40/50 damage each time he is attacked. The damage reduction is calculated before armor benefits are taken into account.
It looked like a good idea on paper... but just act like you have no passive. It's not reliable and the dmg reduction is bad late game
Sion's stare terrifies a single enemy, dealing damage and stunning them.
Little did you know Sion wasn't beat with the ugly stick... the whole tree fell on him. He can stop people with one look. This is what keeps people from running away...like Tryn...with Undying rage... I only use this for the stun and max it last.
Sion surrounds himself with a damage absorbing shield. If the shield is not destroyed in 10 seconds then it will explode, dealing damage to surrounding enemies.
No in depth discussion now. I just use this to soften the blow of atks and abilities when going to kill champs. I max it after enrage for more defence.
While active Sion deals extra physical damage at the cost of health. Additionally, he gains maximum health permanently whenever he kills a unit. I max this first for high dmg output and to start bulking up health early.
Bread and Butter. This skill puts you over 3k health PASSIVELY without stacking health yet alone with a warmongs This is what makes atma's so awesome for Sion. It also boots your atks to extreme proportions early game for those hard first couple of kills.
Sion consumes some of his enemies life force on each attack, leeching health to himself and nearby allies. The smell of flesh also renews Sion's fervor, increasing his attack speed.
This is the white to your rice. This is what makes you able to tank two people when starting with under 100 health. This turns you into a woodchipper that eats champs. The OVER 100% LIFESTEAL with a vamp scep is pretty nifty too but don't blink when you use this and start attacking, you'll miss you getting the kill. Remember your ult HEALS YOU AND EVERYONE AROUND WHO YOUR HITTING! This can and will save people from getting ganked and keep the team healthy in teamfights. Max ASAP
Exhaust and Ignite- The awesome combo that when combined with your skills makes people with they never left the summoner platform.
Flash- I don't like to use flash that much. Yes, the mobility is great and it makes it easier for chasing and fleeing but true Sions shine when they tank through having no-life and walking away with full, and you propbly shouldn't be chasing someone incase of an ambush, and your gaze is for closing the distance between you and your victim. But some people staple this in all their builds for everybody and always use it, I don't see it being a necessity though.
"I can do over 1300 combined damage to the whole enemy team in a team fight. My shield and Gaze do 900 a piece."
I hear things like this so many times from AP Sions... and heres my response:
I can do over 4000 damage to A champ before your shield can even be popped for damage. I don't rely on only my shield and gaze for damage AKA I'm not useless when my shield pops I can still do damage continually until I die. My ult heals for hundreeds of health not only to me, but also everyone else around me so I offer TEAM SUSTAIN who else can do that in a fight? Healing everyone by attacking is pretty sweet. and no, you can't do that too cause your damage output is so horrendous late game you ult only heals yourself by 100 MAYBE 200 a hit if you crit. And I don't know about you, but I LOVE being focused in a teamfight and theres 0 chance of my damage to be negated when everyone focuses me. You can add your numbers up if you want, but that's the problem with AP Sions. You have a defined damage cap every couple of seconds. Sure, burst is great and you kill squishies instantly but what about that Shen? or Rammus? can you kill them in a matters of seconds? Cause I sure can.
Sure the counters are great for Sions shield and gaze but that doesn't mean to push ap out the butt. A little bit of ap could do wonders for Sion but he's a walking blackhole of life, taking it from the enemy and giving it to himself. He's a life steal champ, get over it, it's what he was made for and is best at.
Behavior and TEAMFIGHTS!
Okay... so your AD Sion... running down a lane by yourself and BAM! 4 people charge you from the bushes! What do you do? it's SIMPLE!
Whenever you encounter anyone always cast shield asap to absorb the damage your taking pop your ult if you can (or if you have to against 1 person) and stun the weaker one and eat their arms off and then eat those sloppy seconds that try to run away from you.
Whenever you get jumped by 3 or more people DON'T PANIC, YOU GOT THIS, between your ult, atk speed, and dmg, you'll have them running away in no time.
Remember to test your durability in games. Don't be afriad to try and tank at places you would think any main tank would die instantly at. Your ult makes you godplayer after all and will pull you through almost everything (ignite and cc excluded).
In 5v5 teamfights
If you don't initiate with your gaze and run in first, you better be right behind the person that does so you can pop your ult and heal them and you through the burst damage. Same as when you get ganked, cast shield whenever possible DO NOT USE IT FOR DAMAGE UNLESS IT'S 1 PERSON RUNNING FROM YOU AND GAZE IS ON CD. Try and hit their carries when they target your squishes behind you. Yes, it sounds crazy but your ult WILL HEAL THEM as you smack the carry making their job harder while you laugh harder at them and doing basically 0 damage when your squishy gets away. Don't be afraid to use your ult defensively to save someone.
Basically, AP Sions need to die in a hole, and they will while you charge the enemy team and muscle to the Nexus and win with AD Sion.
Please let me know how to make this better, I know about the runes but I don't see myself putting a serious fix to that, I honestly don't care.
Please try before raging and throwing useless words over the internet about how much my life sucks cause you can't play a build your told how to right.
