Akali's Story

Let me start off by saying that the above buildIs for players who are not yet level thirty.Down bellow there will be a section inBLUEshowing the build for if you are level thirty and have the correct rune build.

Hey guys what's going on? I decided to make this guide because when trying to get some footage for my YouTube channel ( http://www.youtube.com/user/Nonkerz ) I came up with this build and it worked amazingly! So I decided to share it with you guys!

Akali's Story

There exists an ancient order originating in the Ionian Isles dedicated to the preservation of balance. Order, chaos, light, darkness -- all things must exist in perfect harmony for such is the way of the universe. This order is known as the Kinkou and it employs a triumvirate of shadow warriors to uphold its causes in the world. Akali is one of these shadow warriors, entrusted with the sacred duty of Pruning the Tree - eliminating those who threaten the equilibrium of Valoran.

A prodigal martial artist, Akali began training with her mother as soon as she could make a fist. Her mother's discipline was relentless and unforgiving, but predicated on the fundamental principle: ''We do that which must be done.'' When the Kinkou inducted her into the order at the age of fourteen, she could slice a dangling chain with a chop of her hand. There was no question - she would succeed her mother as the Fist of Shadow. She has had to do much in this role which others might find morally questionable, but to her it is in service of her mother's inviolable doctrine. She now works with her fellows Shen and Kennen to enforce the balance of Valoran. This hallowed pursuit has unsurprisingly led the triumvirate to the Fields of Justice.

''The Fist of Shadow strikes from the cover of death itself. Do not impede the balance.''

Introduction

Akali is a amazing champion and one of my favorites. She excels in getting in on teamfights or just ripping apart one or two people prancing through the woods. With this guide you can guarantee positive games with many reaching 18 kills and higher! In no time you will be destroying Normal or Ranked games :)

The Art of Escaping

Akali has two main means of escape. Shadow Dance and Twilight Shroud. First I will go over Twilight Shroud.

When you use Twilight Shroud, Akali throws down this dome type purple shadow. When you are in this you become invisible to the enemy team, while not attacking. So basically you use it ahead or behind you, walk into it, and then when they all go into it they will not be able to see you and keep going in the direction you were going in. Since you are invisible you can either try to wait it out in the shroud (not suggested) or you can try to juke them by running the opposite way or into some bushes (highly suggested :3). This method is super effective for jumping in, getting a kill, and then silently slipping away.

The next method of escape is using Akali's ultimate, Shadow Dance. Shadow dance has about a TWO second cool-down. Because of the short time you can jump between enemies very quickly. One example would be; a champion, let's just say Jarven, is trying to escape back to his turret and is just out of range. Then his fresh minion wave passes him. Use Shadow dance on the minions to get in range of Jarven and then attack him or shadow Dance again even closer. This whole process should take like two seconds since Akali is a boss. Then to get away Shadow Dance back to the minions and run away cleanly.

Those are the two most effective ways of escaping with Akali.

1v1 Situations

In a 1v1 situation with Akali, the main idea is to control the fight. What you are going to want to do is to Shadow Dance in, use Mark of the Assassin, then Crescent Slash. If they are still alive throw down a Twilight Shroud if they are standing and fighting or just start the rotation over if they run. Oh and don't forget to auto attack after using Mark of the Assassin to use the proc

2v2 and up

In these larger fights you want to target the other teams carry. These are the high mele dpsers or tanks. After doing some damage on these people move over to squishier targets and just overall help your team clean up the scragglers.

Normal Attack Chain
Shadow Dance -> Mark of the Assassin -> Auto Attack -> Crescent Slash -> Twilight Shroud -> Repeat

You can also use Twilight Shroud at the beggining of the fight if you think they might stand and fight.

Summoner Spells
Any of these summoner spells are good with Akali, but I normally lean more towards Ignite and Flash. If I am not using these I will probably be using Ghost and Flash/Exhaust. The explanation for this is pretty much straight forward and personal opinion. So have at it!

Runes

Alright so the runes that I take for Akali are pretty straight forward. For marks I take SEVEN flat attack damage marks. This helps me get towards the plus NINE AND A HALF attack damage which procs one of my Kama's (more about that in a bit). I also take TWO flat magic penetration marks. This just gives more damage. For seals I take NINE flat health runes. This does what the name implies and gives me more health :D. For Glypths I take NINE flat ability power runes. This helps to proc my other Kama (Like I said, more about that in the next section). Finally for Quintessences. I take THREE flat ability power runes to finish of the proc on my last kama. All of these runes proc both of my Kama's and help me with slicing right through all those enemy champions!

Procing Kama's

Alright so Akali's passive says that when you get to plus NINETEEN AND A HALF ability power you do 10% bonus magic damage per basic attack. So the runes I take in ability power help me to get that right at the start of the game. Without any items. That way I go into the battle doing bonus damage at level one.

The second part of Akali's passive says that when you get to plus NINE POINT FIVE attack damage Akali gains 10% spell vamp. This is extremely helpful because that means that every time you attack with one of your abilities you gain health. And the higher the level you are you gain more and more. This could mean the gap between life or death. I have had less then half health before hiding in a bush trying to teleport home to heal when a full health person comes walking by and happens to see me. Instead of running I shadow jumped to him and was able to kill him without dying because I gained health every time I attacked him.

Item Changes for Level 30 witht he correct runes

If you meet the above standards, then you should substitute the starting itemsDoran's blade for a Boots of Speed you should also add one extra health potion because if you buy the Boots of Speed you have enough money left over for three health potions. Adding this makes you be able to harass the other team more since you are faster and stay longer since you have health potions. Remember, you only make this switch if you are level thirty, have the right masteries, and have the correct runes. ONLY THEN :D

Basic Combo String

What I will normally do is, R-->Q-->Auto Attack(to initiate proc)-->E-->W--> Then I start using which ever skill is not on cool down. ALWAYS AUTO ATTACK AFTER Q UNLESS U ARE JUST HARASSING.

A alternate combo would be Q-->Wait-->R-->Q-->Auto ATTACK-->E-->W-->Fight in your shroud.

Otherwise you can just use your attacks as you go. Like I said this guide is not set in stone and as you use Akali you will learn new combos and attack strings and maybe will play he a little differently then I do. If you do feel free to post it in the comments and if I like it I will put it in the guide and credit you.

Twilight Shroud

Twilight shroud is a very important ability. I already covered how it can be used as a means of defense, but it can also be used as a means of offence. If you look at the description of the ability you will notice that while in the shroud you will gain up to 50% more armor. However, enemies in the shroud will lose up to 30% movement speed depending on the level of your shroud. What all this means is FIGHT IN YOUR SHROUD AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE!!!!! It can easily mean the difference of dying or living.

Tips and Tricks

~Through levels 1-5 be sure to strictly farm and harass when you can, once you level 6 you can start playing aggressively. (Unless your enemy sucks.)

~If you have the chance to solo top or middle lane always take it! Top lanes brush and it's layout although similar to bottoms is better, and if you are in middle harassing correctly and farming can deprive the enemy from leveling creating a disadvantage for their team.

~Always try to obtain the Red buff whenever you can, the slow and extra damage can help a lot when you don't have Rylai's Crystal Scepter yet.

~Make sure to grab anElixir of Fortitude whenever you have extra gold lying around, with the extra Health and attack damage, you gain survivability and more damage for Crescent Slash[E].

Conclusion

I hoped this guide has helped you become a better Akali!
If you are not doing to well with her first starting out, all I can say is "Try try again!"
Practicing is the best way you can learn, you have to start somewhere! :D
