Introduction

So the jist of this is.. Cait is a Goddess of LOL. We have all seen those amazing Caits, and we have all seen those horrible Caits on free Cait week. The deal is, that if used right, Cait is an unparalleled force in the game. When going mid with Cait I usually have 3 kills and mid tower gone by the 15:00min mark. She is easy to quickly get an advantage gold, and level wise over all the other champs, and for this reason people call her OP. If you are good with skill shots, and konw when and how to be aggressive, then you will excel with Cait. There is not a better ranged in the game when she is played right. She is pure sniping damage from the get go. She is amazing at last hitting, and at not letting people get away. I commonly go 12/2/7 with cait, and have had games of over 40 kills. Any time you look at the damage charts at the end of the game, Cait should be at the very highest, no excuses. If she's not the player isn't playing her right.

I will try to show you how to use Cait as the ultimate killing machine. with her endgame build she can go 3v1 and win. she crits for 2.7k/sec. she is an unparalled force since her lifesteal also turns that damage into pure never ending healing.

Runes & Mastreries

It should be obvious here. We want our Cait fed. To feed our Cait she need to be OP early game. To be OP early game she needs to do damage. We want about 10 armor pierce, and everything else pure attack damage in the runes. We want some extra armor and magic resistance in our masteries, and the rest pure attack power.

By doing this, when you buy Dorans blade at the beginning of the game, you will be knocking off huge chunks of peoples health. Also with Caits Q, you will be able to hit early game for roughly 1/4 their HP. it is so easy to feed when you do ranged damage like this. They will be to scared to even get near you. especially when you can q them, e them, auto aatk their HP away, and finish with a strong R. But now we are getting ahead of ourselves, lets talk about Cait's mechanics and abilities.

Skills/Mechanics

Headshot (Innate): Every 8 / 7 / 6 attacks (attacks while in brush count as 2), Caitlyn's attack will be enhanced to be a headshot, dealing 150% damage to a champion or 250% damage to a minion.
Ability Description Leveling up

This passive is so important. When your passive count is up for a headshot, use it either for a last hit on a minion, or to harass a champion. Also when Cait is in the bushes her passives happen twice as fast, so instead of being 1 out of 6 attacks, 1in every 3 attacks. This is especially nice for quickly getting red buff.

Piltover Peacemaker (Active): Caitlyn revs up her rifle for 1 second to unleash a penetrating shot in a line which will deal physical damage to all targets hits. It will deal 15% less damage for each subsequent target hit, down to a minimum of 40% damage dealt.
Range: 1300
Cost: 50 / 60 / 70 / 80 / 90 mana
Cooldown: 10 / 9 / 8 / 7 / 6 seconds

Physical Damage: 20 / 60 / 100 / 140 / 180 (+1.3 per attack damage)

Now Caits Q is super powerful. It is a skill shot, and you have to be quick with it as it is a slightly delayed skill shot. So you need to be good at guessing the enemies path. You want to use this to take out large groups of minions quickly, and also to harass the enemy. When trying to harass the enemy see if you can get an un-interrupted shot so they get hit with the full damage. If not make sure you hit some low hp minions for farming. We will always max this out first.

Yordle Snap Trap (Active): Caitlyn sets a trap at the target nearby location. The trap triggers when a champion walks over it. When sprung, the trap immobilizes the champion for 1.5 seconds, dealing magic damage over the duration and additionally revealing the target for 9 seconds. Caitlyn can set up to 3 traps and they last 4 minutes. When she sets a trap once the cap has been reached, the oldest trap will deactivate itself.
Cost: 50 mana
Placement Range: 800
Activation Range: 135
Cooldown: 20 / 17 / 14 / 11 / 8 seconds
Magical Damage: 80 / 130 / 180 / 230 / 280 (+0.6 per ability power)

If you are having problems with enemies in bushes, drop one point in here early on so you can catch them. Its always nice to see them for a few seconds.

90 Caliber Net (Active): Caitlyn fires a heavy net in front of her. The net will slow down the first target hit by 50% and will deal magic damage to it. Upon firing it, the recoil will knock Caitlyn back.
Cost: 75 mana
Range: 1000
Knockback Distance: 400
Cooldown: 18 / 16 / 14 / 12 / 10 seconds
Total Magic Damage: 80 / 130 / 180 / 230 / 280 (+0.8 per ability power)
Slow Duration: 1 / 1.25 / 1.5 / 1.75 / 2 seconds

SUPER IMPORTANT. The net will fling you out of hard to escape situations. It can fling you over some walls. It will also slow enemies so you can escape, or so that they can not escape. learning to use then net the right way will save yours and your opponents lives. Nothing like netting a spinning garren or wu-kong in the face and everyone walking away and out of range. Or nailing a charging xin or tryn and then using the extra distance to finish them off before they can touch you.

Ace in the Hole (Active): Caitlyn marks an enemy champion at a huge range and channels for 2 seconds to line up the perfect shot, providing vision of the target for the duration. She then fires the projectile to deal massive physical damage. Enemy champions can intercept the bullet for their ally.
Cost: 100 mana
Projectile Speed: 3200
Cooldown: 90 / 75 / 60 seconds
Physical Damage: 250 / 475 / 700 (+2.0 per bonus attack damage)

Range: 1900 / 2050 / 2200

your Ulti. Quick cooldown, use it to finish those kills. Be agressive. Flash in and turret dive and Q enemy. Net out of range of turret with E. then Ulti them with R. Although by the time you lvl 6 this should be your second kill.

Items

Start off with Dorans blade. The added dmg/health/lifesteal will keep you in the lane and allow you to be aggressive. You shuold have 6% lifesteal due to your masteries. As soon as you have enough or after a kill, teleport back and pick up another Dorans blade. This will give you huge advantages and carry you to the end of your build. You will be doing wicked damage early game, and 9% total life steal is nice.

Next we buy our boots. Attack speed self explanatory.

Then we buy ou B.F. Sword. We need to keep on building that damage to finish kills and knock down towers.

Here if you need it, buy life steal scepter, however I would recommend just going straight for a phantom dancer. then Infinity edge for major crits and damage. Then at your own discretion get the two blood thirsters and another phantom dancer. Your attack speed/crit/damage/lifesteal will be unstoppable

Do not sell Dorans Blades until you must!

The Goal no matter where you are.

The goal is to kill, to feed, to farm, and to knock down towers. If you are harassing your opponents so well they do nothing but tower hugging from a safe distance, than knock down their tower and farm their minions. If they come out, harass them to death. Remember if they are low health you can use your Ulti. Just know how much damage your ulti does at all times and how much health they have.

You want to Level up faster, and horde gold faster than anyone else in the game. That is what Cait's do. That is how they stay ahead. So always be gaining. Always be progressing. If you are mid you should be level 8 while everyone else is level 5, and you opposing mid player is maybe getting to 6. I have harassed and slain opposing mids so well before that they are still hittin level 3 when I am hitting level 6.

Once Caitlyn jumps out front of the race she is unstoppable.
