Ok . You need traps . Not to deal dmg. but to zone your opponent out IF and only IF they step on it. its a free Q hit. A cait at lv 2 with traps and Q vs a Cait at lv 2 with Q and net . Net is not going to zone anything. your point abt jungler. The enemy jungler will only be able to get to you at lv 2 - 5 if only if you do not last hit.Or if push the waves up too fast therefore creating a rift from you and your turret. so Last hit well and you are good and should be able to last till lv 4 before you get your net. Its not that long of a time. Also you say that traps are easy to dodge. To be honest. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO STEP ON IT XD you need to pressure the enemy to walk into it via retreat. lemme give you at example. solo mid . Cait vs anybody. lv 1 plant traps. IN a straight line nearer towards their turret (its after the bushes(referring to the trap's spot)) you do that. your mana will comeback even before minions spawn. MANA AND LANE PRESENCE ADVANTAGE. you take last hits. enemy pushes pass your traps. you go agro. he or she would not take the time to try to avoid your traps. they will walk into it , once they do. its massive punishment maybe even death for them . IF you got q first. tbh, q is also very easily dodged. The time where caitlyn revs her gun. the enemy just has to sidestep outta its way and your attack missed. also if you had traps first. if your enemy tried to dodge your Q , they might walk into any of the 3 traps pre-placed and you can flick dmg like nuts. at this rate by lv 6 , you would be able to kill with no prob and with no mana issues.

Serious business aside. even with all the skills and dmg u have. at any lvl. with same amt of farm. cait vs your cait at mid with reaction of a toaster and exhaust. can kill you anytime. SO yeah. you need exhaust too , just saying. :) hope you find my comment useful! i wont vote till your guide is completed! all the best! <3 haha!

I Definitely understand the idea of the trap at first, and as I will discuss later traps are useful and can be knocked up to a earlier point in the game. But the whole point here is to use Cait's immense killing power to get as many kills as possible. If you are good with you Q skillshot, then that is all you need. And the net is needed to slow down and escape an incoming ganker, cause when you are blowing mid away they will leave their lanes to gank you.

Most games though the mid will start by huggin their tower. If you take cait her Q has further range then tower, and Q the enemy unblocked while they are sitting there.... 1/4 hp gone just like that. The objective here is to keep the enemy so low in HP that the dont even come out from under their tower, and when they do you kill them. It is a super aggressive and ubbelievable play style that is unparalleled in LOL. I have played against many other Caits mid, and the cait who Q's first, The cait who lands the most damage is the one who controls the lane. Not the Cait who lays more traps, those are easy to avoid and do little for you when the other cait is blasting 1/4 your hp away every Q.

Get the trap first. It is like a mini ward + it gives you ton of control when you want to hold your brush down bottom. Also never mid Caitlyn. I don't like her as a solo top too.

I'm having issues with both your skill sequence... I think you should get the trap at first, just for the laning advantage.
