Before we get started...

Hello guys. This is my guide on how i play . As he hasn't been around for long, i understand that this might not be the best way to play him and apologize for every possible harm you might get from playing him. I've strived through LoL's forum a bit and recognized the buckloads of QQ and disappointed players saying how bad he is. This guides goal is to bring you my near and show you what he's capable of. This is my first guide on MOBAfire so far, so please try to leave constructive criticism, tips or advice in the comments. Don't forget to rate also. :)

Yorick's Story

The work of gravediggers is essential amongst the living, but invaluable in the Shadow Isles. There are many shades of death there, and each is embraced rather than feared or reviled. One can only ascend from one state to the next with the magical aid of a skilled professional. At the end of the first Rune War, Yorick Mori made his living as a gravedigger. His family owned and maintained the Final Rest Memorial, one of the oldest cemeteries in Valoran. The shovel he employed for his work had been passed down for generations. Each gravedigger taught his son that this shovel was imbued with the spirit of every forefather, and that those spirits would protect him during the long lonely nights amongst the tombstones. To his eternal regret, Yorick died without an heir, bringing the proud Mori line to a close. His body was interred with his shovel in the family mausoleum, and the Final Rest Memorial soon fell to ruin. Death, however, was not the end Yorick had expected.
Yorick emerged on the haunted shores of the Shadow Isles – not quite dead, definitely not alive – still clutching his beloved shovel. He soon learned that with it he could act as a ferryman for the Isles' undead denizens, helping them climb death's many-tiered ladder. This proved a curse, as a gravedigger must "bury his quota" before he too can ascend, or so the legend goes. No one knows what "his quota" is. Yorick dug tirelessly, waiting in vain for the day when he would be freed of his burden. As decades turned to centuries, the shame of his failures came to a head. He returned to Valoran to find his corpse, convinced that salvation might be buried with it. When he arrived, no trace remained of either the mausoleum or the memorial. Hope nearly lost, he discovered the League of Legends, and there saw an opportunity to immortalize the family name he allowed to be forgotten ages ago.

Why Yorick?

Yorick was one of the few champs who got hit with the "Underpowered" stamp right off the bat. Considered as one of the weaker champions, may it be because he doesn't have outstanding skills in any category where others are simply better then him or may it be for his ghouls not being very strong at all. So, what is Hunchbacks role then?

Yorick how i play him is a tanky DPS Hybrid focusing on staying alive while wrecking your opponent with a horde of tiny little ghoulies...you know, like an awesome overlord. Heck, this might be your reason to play him to begin with. =)

Key Terms:
OoW:Omen of War
OoP:Omen of Pestilence
OoF:Omen of Famine
OoD:Omen of Death himself

Yoricks Skills - Short Explanation

I

If OoW is your bread and butter, then this is the same for your ghouls. It's the main reason to go for so much AD and HP. Basically, your little helpers will get atleast 1000 bonus hp and 90 AD from your full build. This will help them survive and dish out fair amounts. For most parts, your opponent will not think of your ghouls as a threat. Most people i've seen (everyones different.) kill them with a single spell or just ignore them right away. I mean, after 5 seconds they die anyway and minions speed this up like crack. So what are you gonna do about it? Raise their stats to make them those secret killers nobody expects to die from. The Damage you'll get from all 3 Ghouls is HUGE.
The best part of this passive is the 5% dmg increase for every ghoul on the field, meaning after your skill sequence you'll hurt for 15% more for max.5 seconds. This is a really nice touch for any dmg oriented Yorick.
Oh,one more note: in late game and against magic resi (yes, the ghouls do magic damage even though they scale with AD) stacking
foes, this passive get's rather unnoticeable.

Q

As mentioned, this will be your bread and butter throughout the whole game. It gives your next attack a BIG dmg boost(also, yay for a 1:1 AD ratio) and summons a spectral ghoul , giving you a nice speed boost of 35% at lvl 5. As he can exist up to 5 seconds, this helps you alot with catching up or escaping. Also, spectral ghouls do 40 dmg points more(don't ask why)Combined with OoP, this skill is a great tool for setting up ganks. On a lane if your foes run from you, don't be shy to use it on minions to catch up. the cd of 5 seconds is crazily short and makes this your main damage dealing skill.Obviously, you'll max this skill first.
W

A moderately damaging AoE spell with good hit area and a ridiculous slow. Doesn't scale with your base AD sadly. Summons a ghoul which also slows enemies near him for a good amount. This skill has many uses:
-scout bushes
-Catch your opponent&flee from him
-Rule nr.1:Farm with it!
max it second, but not before putting 2 points into OoF

E

A pretty short-range single target nuke applying spellvamp and summoning a ghoul. Used to get yourself hp back in the lane and the first skill we'll start of with. The ghoul it summons heals you for the full dmg dealt, so if it works nicely, you'll get a healthy chunk of about 100 life back, and that at lvl 1! :D After lvl 2 we won't need to upgrade it until much later. Don't get me wrong, it's useful as it is right now, but the dealt dmg kinda sucks, and the other spells just bring better effects to begin with.

R

Think of this as a mix of Mordes and Zileans Ult. First, you create a copy of a targeted (allied) champ for 10 seconds. This one will have the same stats as the original at Lvl 3, but the health slowly deplenishes with 10% per second.

Tip: You can control the Copy holding alt and moving normally.

That's it? Well, no, theres a second, much more awesome part. When the copied person dies WHILE the copy itself still chills around, the copy will kill itself to revive him again! During this time period of 10 seconds where his health drops like furwearing hags in a peta-convention, his whole mana is restored and all skills are usable. This makes Yorick really great of an supporter in teamfights and is very flexibly usable. Use it in team fights, to push towers or to save a team mate (note from me: distracting them works!it gives you a needed second or two to get out of range or behind your tower.).So all in all, a great Ultimate with many uses, that would just need to last a bit longer to get all out of its potential.
