Galio is listed as Support Tank Melee but he should be defined as a Pusher Tank Melee.
Resolute Smite followed up by Righteous Gust will clear a wave very quickly and wraiths instantly when the skills are doing 200+ damage each. It says 70 ap but its 70 + Half of your MR which isn't calculated here.
Galio can push and harass enough to mid and lob his Smites into the mages and pop all three at once keeping the creeps back and harassing with his long range.
The only issue when farming, fighting or harassing is mana, he uses a lot of it very quickly.
So, we'll be building to compensate that deficit as well as building a tank.
Red HP per Level or Defense against AD or AP damage
Yellow Mana regen per level
Blue Magic resist per level or cooldown
Quints HP/5 flat, HP flat, Movement speed, or defense against AD or AP damage
Pretty straight forward get down to Veteran's Scars in defense tree and get Perseverance on down to 2 points in movement speed taking all the mana related masteries.
This will give you HP regen based on max mana, Mana regen, higher starting HP and a little better mobility if you can give up the HP quint crutch and throw on some movement speed quints for some amazing dashes with your Righteous Gust.
Mana Crystal + potion or not
Mercury Treads or if they don't have CC Ionian boots work or Sorcerer's
> Banshee's Veil even against a heavy melee team this item is useful in blocking their skills
ThornMail raises the damage of your ult while giving you armor, regular armor items lower damage of your ultimate, this however is the item that will keep you alive against melee attacks during your ultimate without sacrificing its collective damage.
Guardian Angel obvious choice for tanks
Sunfire cape if you need more HP and/or Armor because it does damage during your ultimate making the armor value, like thornmail, not detrimental to the damage during your ultimate.
Abyssal Scepter if you need more MR/AP by item 5-6 though you should be able to figure out what you need without these as standard items for every match.
Rylai's is good for adding HP and if you really want to up your HP get a Warmogs you can easily fill it in a short amount of time with your farming.
Master Q E as the combo will clear waves and farm gold fast
Obviously get R at every chance
W get as needed usually last unless someone got fed and you need to buff up, its support variable isn't much but its great for using before your ultimate.
Flash then Ultimate is an amazing combo for so many reasons. Flash in and turn save someone, flash in at enemies running away and catch them and flash out if you are near death after using your ultimate and need to distance yourself from damage.
Clarity makes so much of a difference during the lane phase or while in team fights after you have cast your combo's but before you use your Ultimate, often this is when you realize you're out of mana because the skill costs are high and instantly gaining mana back is a must.
Teleport + Clarity is great for Middle lane, SoloLane, and if you don't use flash
the rest is up to you.
With this setup of runes, masteries, spells and items you should be able to farm gold fast to complete items quickly, initiate and live during team fights as a tank, stop casters like Annie and Brand from having dominance, gank with your slow and self propelling combo and fly around the map pushing lanes.
It is all what a tank/pusher/melee can be, nothing more nothing less. AoE's, Self heal, long cooldown ult and slow.
