Introduction

Alrighty, hello and thanks for reading my guide. This is my first guide and I chose to do it on Garen because I like his play style which can be risky and come out with good rewards. I have been playing Garen for a while now and I shifted from damage focus to Tank focus but those 2 builds had very strong weaknesses. I chose a build that balances his Damage with tankiness as well as giving him a ton of Movement speed. He is relevant end game but as a tank who annoys their ADC or AP carry and can really do some AoE damage if they don't have armor.

Pros / Cons

-Extremely Tanky (if built right)
-Reliable Damage & Finisher
-Removes CC
-Good at chasing (with this build)
-Shouldn't be focused but can't be ignored

..::CONS::..

-No burst damage
-No hard CC
-Gap closing isn't the best
-Kiteable

Runes

MARKS

I chose 9x Greater Mark of Desolation because it brings early to mid game damage considering you will have a substantial amount of AD anyway so that extra 15 armor pen helps against squishies.


SEALS

I decided to go with 9x Greater Seal of Armor for early game armor and synergy with Courage which increases your armor and MR by 20% so you get an extra boost when putting a point into this skill.


GLYPHS

I went with 9x Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist for late game MR considering you don't usually face an AP top and it will help against late game damage and synergize with Courage.


QUINTESSENCES

For my Quints I went with 3x Greater Quintessence of Movement Speed for early game MS which maxes my MS to 405 which allows me to dodge skill shots and easily escape ganks as well as boosting the amount of MS I gain from Decisive Strike

Skill Sequence

I chose this skill sequence because I take advantage of my MS and use my Q to last hit or close distances for harrass combined with the armor pen and the decent damage of Q I can easily push top out of farming range. I max E first for damage and the increase in ratio which is pretty significant that from out of nowhere you are doing 75% of their hp in just 1 spin and you can stay on them because of your MS. I max Q second for increased Movement speed boost duration. Maxing W last because it only increases duration which is best used late game for tanking and the 20% boost is the same even at rank 1.
