This is the first time I've ever actually made my own build and not used some other build on a website. So I won't bore you with super details and get straight to the point.

This build for Garen is meant to provide the summoner with a durable fighter who can still deal out the pain. He works well in both team fights and solo with a few exceptions. The first time I did this build i had 9/2/10 as Garen. Not spectacular but I was highest on my team and we kicked the other teams ***. Remember it's not the amount of kills you have but getting the Nexus before your opponents. True story my team won a game with 18 kills to their 70 kills because we pushed and went for their towers.

Skills

Perseverance - Garen will regenerate .5% of his maximum health per second after not receiving damage for 7 seconds.

Awesome skill that keeps you in your lane for a while. Just play smart.

Decisive Strike -Garen's next attack strikes a vital area of his foe, dealing bonus damage and silencing them.
Garen gains a 15/20/25/30/35% speed boost for 2 seconds. His next attack deals 40/60/80/100/120 bonus damage and silences his target for 2.5 seconds.

Great utility and smacking power. The added silence and speed boost is a really great combo.

Courage - Garen's kills increase his armor and magic resistance. He may also activate this ability to give himself a damage reducing shield.
Passive: Garen's armor and magic resist are permanently increased by 0.5 every time he kills an enemy unit. This bonus is maxed at 7/14/21/28/35.

This skill makes you as hard as steel. You can't say no to Armor and Magic resit in one skill. It's saved my *** a lot of times.

Judgment - Garen performs a dance of death with his sword, dealing damage around him and becoming immune to slowing and root effects for 3 seconds.
Garen rapidly spins his sword around his body for 3 seconds, removing and making him immune to all roots and slows, dealing physical damage (15/35/55/75/95 plus 35% of his attack damage) to enemy units in the area every 0.5 seconds. This ability does half damage to minions, and it can scale off of your critical hit stat to deal bonus damage.

Your main stay ability. Nothing like tearing into groups of foes and keeping people away from your towers/minions.

Demacian Justice - Garen calls upon the might of Demacia to deal a finishing blow to an enemy champion that deals damage based upon how much life his target has missing.
Garen calls upon the might of Demacia to attempt to execute an enemy champion, dealing 175/350/525 damage plus 1 damage for every 3.5/3/2.5 health they are missing.

This spell is just sexy all together. It kills everybody. Tanks, mages, and regen champs alike. At about 30% life this will finish any champ in one blow. If not well that's why I have ignite :D

Spells

When it comes to spells I always tell people, go with what you are most comfortable with. When I said this guide is flexible I meant it. I personally use Ignite and Flash.

Ignite - Always useful for finishing of those pesky champs who out run Judgement and Demacian Justice.

Flash - Always useful in catching up to people along with Decisive Strike and also for escaping. Overall its my favorite utility spell next to teleport.

Item Build

The order in which you get these items is up to you but I always get my Boots, Frozen Mallet, and Youmuu's Ghostblade first. They are my three core items. After that depending on the other team's build, I get the other three items as needed. I've also switched out Youmuu's for Wriggle's Lantern for those games against Eve and Twitch.
Maxing Courage early on before Decisive Strike, you will have a ton of time to build up your defense so health isn't an issue after Frozen mallet. At that point your 2.5k hp will seem like 4k.

Again I take the remaining three items as I need them, sometimes switching out one of them with Sunfire Cape.

Overall
Just be flexible with Garen and play smart. Adapt his build and play style as you need to. Learn when to go offensive and when to stay defensive, because you can't be taught that just learn from your own gameplay.
