The idea i started with in this build was this: to work with Garen's regen passive skill, and to make his skills spammable. With this build you can stay in the lane early game, and gain xp faster than the other team. When Garen levels he gains a good amount of HP which increases his regen, so i try to lvl him fast.

Why Doran's Sheild?
-Paired with Garen's passive this makes his early game regen quite snappy. It gives him faster regen than a ruby crystal, and makes you more durable than a bead or pendant.

Why the Swift boots?
-I like the boots, becuase it helps to be speedy with garen making his Judgement skill more effective at sliceing in and out, to poke who you are laneing against.

Why Spirit Visage?
-This item gives you solid cooldown reduction and HP regen, along with increasing you overall regen by 20% = Super regen Garen. Spirit visage is also great if you lane against casters, for the magic resist. Paired with the armor runes i used, it keeps garen balanced, and not vulnerable to any type of enemy.

Brutalizer then Ghost blade?
-Again cooldown reduction, and armor penetration, damage. Then the Ghost blade helps you chase down kills before they get far. Can also be used in a pinch to escape. This also adds to crit witch is always good on Garen.

From there it depends on your taste, and what your team needs.
I would go with Randuin's Omen if you still need to tank, and take the damage for your team. It gives more cooldown regen, and the nifty ability to slow enemies that comes in handy. This paired with the ghost blade is a nasty combo. You could chose to go with warmogs if you are content with your cooldowns.

I would next go with a Sunfire Cape or Guardian Angel. If you need more damage, go with Sunfire, if you get focused a lot in team fights go for Angel. Any HP adds to Garen's regen so i usually get sunfire, if the game goes this long.

-=End Game=-
Garen will have almost spammable cooldowns, if you get blue buff its just nasty how fast he can use his skills. This paired with his regen at this point means while teammates and b'ing you can stay and attack a tower, play some hit and run. I hope you enjoy my Garen build, i think its a fun one!
