I created this guide to help the beginner Garen players survive in almost any battle situation. This build works both in team battles and in solo queue. The build can be altered to have more magic resist or armor depending on the team your facing.

I take flat health quints to help survive and support the Atma's Impaler. I then take flat armor seals for obvious protection against physical attackers. I also take flat magic resist glyphs to help survive against mages. Finally, I take armor penetration marks to help your attacks pierce your target and your Judgment ability to do more damage.

I put 21 points into defense to further the survivability of your Garen and 9 points into offense to help kill targets.

Start off with a Doran's Shield for a tankish Garen from the beginning. After a little farming blue pill and get some boots. Do some more farming and get the Boots of Swiftness and a Giant's Belt. Next buy the Sunfire Cape, which is necessary for all tanky-dps champions. Guardian Angel next will help you to stay alive and sometimes lead to the delay of the enemies your teammates need to get to your position. Thornmail next if the enemies are mainly physical or Force of Nature if your enemies are mages. That should be enough defense so buy Atma's Impaler for some extra damage and armor, then Warmog's Armor for incredible health and even more attack with your Atma's Impaler.

Take Judgement first as its your strongest ability and an incredible farming tool. Put a point in each skill then get your ultimate. Skill order should go:
Demacian Justice>Judgement>Courage>Decisive Strike. Decisive Strike is mainly used for its speed boost and its silence.

Take Exhaust to keep up with your target champion or escape. Use Ghost to cut through minion waves and get to your enemy or get away.
