Introduction

This guide is a quick guide to introduce u to the advantages and disandvantages of the Hecarim, the shadow of war.

RED colour texts are the important parts of this guide.
BLUE colour are the secondary and situational parts.

So...

Hecarim is not weak, he exchanges utility for sustain/damage.
So trying to play hecarim as u play ur udyr/shyvana/lee sin and any other bruiser is just wrong.

You are no there to harash/tank. You are there to take advantage of ur utility spells. Like finish the damn ahri/kassa/le blanc who think they can escape from the teamfight.

Or rush throu 5 ppl just to finish a kill and escape. Hecarim is a rohirim. Its the shadow of rohan.

even with an offensive build u can still sustain a teamfight as long as u have ur W spell. That spell is the reason why u can "tank" a fight. but as soon as ur W spell run off u need to dissapear for sometime and then rush back inside.

Jungle

Hecarim is not that powerfull at jungle but still a descent ganker.

I tried many starting items and runes/masteries. The reason why i decided to use these are becouse:

    Gives you sustain
    Your able to gank after finishing the route
    May be slow but effective
    Let you continue ur jungle w/o to recall.

The route is Blue buff -> wolves -> wraths -> red ... etc.

at lvl 4 and 5 u improve your W spell. The reason? keeps you at jungle forever without blue and without wringles. Do you wanna fall behind in exp and gold after you fail ur ganks? I Dont Think So.

Summoner Spells

Well.. you are the utility master.

Ghost gives you AD. Simple enough. Even if ur enemy flashes you can stick on him with ghost. So no walls? then Ghost > Flash.

Flash is the second best tho. Utility master? You can enter and exit teamfights at no time. its still an advantage.

Skill Sequence - Items

Its Very simple..

Q = its spammable but weak, Cooldown is always 2 sec at all levels, procs sheen in EVERY cast. You dont have to max it early. As soon as you get ur ulti u start to level it and you buy ur brutalizer. <3. at this point your Q rampage deals damage. Rampage is the reason you get armor pen and sheen.

damage in 2 sec with sheen. Damage with Q + (2x auto attacks) + sheen) its the best you can do for your early game.

W = Spirit of the dead is your Teamfight sustain. Its the reason you can enter a teamfight with half hp and end it with full. But beware. You are invicible for only 4 sec and if your team deals enough damage to ur enemies. Spirit of the dead is the reason you get Cooldown Reduction and spirit visage. Also its stacks nicely with the hextech gunblade.

E = Devastating charge stacks with Sheen. Its your early long cooldown. Use it wise. Keep it for engage, chase and exit fights. Do not waste it too early.

R = ROHIRIM CHARGE!!!!!!!! Its your entrance and your encore, its the reason u survive ganks and never lose a ur pray. nuff said. The combination of all your spells while your W is activated means u get half your hp back. Your ulti with hexteck and spirit visage is like raising you from the dead.

Passive = Warpath is kinda weak passive. Only think realy usefull is the unit collision xD. BUT its an extra reason to buy youmus ghostblade and zeal over phage :O. Got a karma in your team? :D .. you have permanent extra ad. >.> .. its viable.

Item Discussion

The Item Sequence differs from game to game. Sometimes you need to get more tanky or buy a thornmail.

Actually Hecarim is a hybrid champion since if u look your "damage done" after a game u can see 66% is physical and 33% magical. He has nice AP ratios.

All abilities even if physical or true damage give you health from spellvamp. And you play an aoe spammer champion. + Hextech slow = OP

Spirit vasage? Dude its an weak early item!!! - Yah .. in an expensive build. I would prefer warmogs or frozen mallet. But CD reduction gives me more health than an warmogs.

Why not Malmorious? TBH i love this item. Depends on enemy team. Usually i focus the ap carry since my utility is OP. So magical damage never been a threat.

Why not atmogs? Its boring and works on every champion. I prefer to be more controversial.

Conclusion

You feel squishy? Its becouse YOU ARE. but u have no actual CC, so do not tank. You have many aoe spells. So u need to teamfight. But u have utility, so u have to finish the threats. In less words you are a blender. You do anything. But you are not good at something particualar. You have to switch roles while u fighting. Like bruiser -> assasin -> kiting -> initiator -> dominator. Your W will keep you alive if used correctly.
