Threats to Poppy with this build
|Master Yi||Against Master Yi, to set him back, counter-jungle a bit in the early game. Do that, and you'll guarantee you have the ability to 1v1 him in the jungle if he hasn't gained any kills since then. If he gets a kill, it does get a bit harder, but know your abilities, and getting a stun on him with Heroic Charge opens him up to some good damage.|
Most people play Poppy top, I am one of the worms who slithered through the Meta to crack it's insides open. I'd never really practiced Jungle Poppy before my first game with her, so I practically winged it off of the recommended builds. After a couple games, I figured out the route I wanted to take with her, and adapted it to my own playstyle.
I like to do a lot of damage, all the while staying tanky enough to survive the onslaught of attacks from other champions. I take AD Marks, Scaling Health and Health Regen Seals, AD Glyphs, and AD Quints.
Same with the runes. Give her a bit of tankiness for the sustain in the jungle, and AD to clear faster before upgrading your Hunters Machete. I run 15, 12, and 3.
These items give her nice AD, a bit of AP, and some protection later on in the game. They compliment her kit well, and I don't recommend that you stray too far from this build, unless you've found something you like better.
Max her Q first, for the early damage, Her W, Paragon of Demacia, can be maxed second, like I do, for the extra movespeed to gank lanes, or her E, heroic Charge, Could be maxed second instead for the better initiate, and a longer stun.
Most builds say you should take ghost on Poppy, and I don't like it much. I like to use Flash to set myself up for stuns with her E, to better end, or start a fight. Smite, obviously, for her as a jungler. And Since she doesn't have many good escapes, Flash is good to get away from enemies.
Since her beginning items take a bit of time to put together, you shouldn't have a full build in a game. if you somehow do, you either, got fed early on, or you farmed well, and this game is just a bit too long. This build is meant to take her damage to a new level as well as keeping her tanky for survival.
I haven't actually played Jungle Poppy in ranked. I've been avoiding it lately to better feel up this build and how it helps Poppy.
Pros / Cons
Pros: Late game, you have a lot of damage, and AD high enough to be considered an assassin if you play your abilities correctly. She can out-duel almost any other jungler, and in some cases, can even out-duel AD Carries.
Cons: Early game, she's susceptible to counter jungling because of how long it takes her to get her first item fully completed(Trinity Force). Afterwards, she's still a bit weak, given her low defense, and movement speed.
Creeping / Jungling
Going along with what seems like the new Meta now, start Gromp, and smite it to kill it. Afterwards, go for blue, wolves, red(smite it, because smite will be back up when you get to it), and then go for raptors if you feel up to it. Afterwards, you can either go back to farming the jungle, or go gank a lane that needs help. The choice is yours.
As Poppy in teamfights, or when going to take objectives such as Dragon or Baron, you need to always have sight so that you can know if anyone is around. If someone, say, the Top laner is away from their team, by your red, you can take him out, and make a future teamfight easier for your team, and harder for the enemy.
Poppy has one of the best ultimates for singling out targets. When using Diplomatic Immunity, target an opponent who doesn't do enough damage to actually phase you, or stop you. Then you can focus on other targets, such as AD Carry's, or AP Carry's. You can also use it to save yourself as your running away, seeing as it makes the targeted enemy do less damage to you.
Because your in the jungle, you won't have to worry much about missing farm, unless the enemy jungler pays you a surprise visit. Her Q does enough damage early on to make it very easy to secure farm faster.
