Taric His stuns only last about 2 seconds but wont harm malphite due to his overly tankiness.

People underestimate support malphite due to this early game in general. Once you've hit 6 and build more tanky items, they will regret they've judge malphite support.

History of my use of malphite support: When i was gold 2, I could play any lane pretty well, but when it comes to supporting, all i could really play is thresh because of his skill depth and mechanics ( I'm really into champions that requires skill ). Although I play thresh, my team in one game needed a tank on the team because of damage dueing jungle, top and middle. So i decided i should do malphite support, due to his over tankiness, his passive if he stacks health, his damage if he builds armor, and I most like to use him during the teamfights, and tower diving. The mechanics of malphite might seem easy because he only presses R for engage, but if you survive early game with just nothing, you will become a monster later and will be unstoppable.

As a melee champion, when you're forced to walk up to a minion and stack it with the relic shield, you most of the time will take aggro from the Ad carry, so i highly prefer the armor quints so you wont take as much damage and to have health so you can be strong enough to tank damage for your ally team.
