Choose Champion Build:

  • LoL Champion: Lulu
  • LoL Champion: Lulu

Introduction

This build is a hybrid support build for Lulu. It specializes in giving the best support to your entire team by using a mix of auras and ap.

"The best path between two points is upside-down, between, then inside-out and round again," - Lulu

Pros / Cons

Pros

  • Lots of cc.
  • Is a support that's actually fun.
  • Good at escaping enemies.
  • Can frolic the sh*t out of Summoner's Rift.
  • Supporting gets better as game goes on.
  • Is adorable.

Cons

  • Glitterlance can be hard to aim without practice.
  • Slower than most champions.
  • Can be really annoying for the enemy team...O wait, that's a good thing.

I'm probably just so infatuated with her that I'm overlooking all of her cons. Sorry about that.

Runes

Lulu doesn't seem very rune dependent to me. The most important ones for her are greater seal of replenishment and Greater Glyph of Scaling Cooldown Reduction. She is a little mana hungry and cooldown reduction is always great for supports. For quints, ability power will be bonus help for her early game shield but many supports like Greater Quintessence of Health but I don't think you need more health with this build. For marks, the support standard Greater Mark of Magic Penetration works great.

Builds and Items

Build 1 - Hybrid Support

Build 1a

Build 1b

Build 1c

This build is designed to maximize support for your team. Pretty normal support items are used but mixed with ap items so that your Help, Pix! and Wild Growth are more powerful.

Start with a Faerie Charm, a sight ward, and as many Health Potions as you think you'll need. I usually go with two. Go back when you can afford a philosopher's stone so you can start making good money! Next you can go for Heart of Gold for even more money or get Boots if your lane is pushing at all. Lulu is very slow so be careful of being ganked. Try to get at least one ward on each trip back.

Now you should have your first three items. They are philosopher's stone, Heart of Gold, and Boots. As soon as possible, get your Mobility Boots and Aegis of the Legion after. At this point you should have enough defense to be very hard to kill. You might be a little low on mana until you get Shurelya's Battlesong but that's the next item so you won't wait too long.

Now that you have Shurelya's Battlesong, there are three ways you can go. If the enemy as a good ap carry, get Negatron Cloak and finish Abyssal Mask after Rabadon's Deathcap. If the enemy has a good ad carry, get Chain Vest and finish Zhonya's Hourglass after Rabadon's Deathcap. If the enemy has a lot of aoe(area of effect) spells, you should get Locket of the Iron Solari and then get a Rabadon's Deathcap. Congratulations, you've finished with build!

Reason for items

Mobility Boots - Lets you travel across the map quickly so you can ward and make it to team battles in time.
Shurelya's Battlesong - If you see an opportunity to catch the enemy team off guard, just activate this item and rush in with your team for the win.
Aegis of the Legion - Gives all nearby teammates buffs which help more than you might think.
Rabadon's Deathcap - Give more ap than any other one item in this case.
Zhonya's Hourglass - Gives you needed survivability from ad champions and more ap.
Abyssal Mask - Gives you needed survivability from ap champions and more ap.
Locket of the Iron Solari - Can be very useful against a team with a lot of aoe damage because it's active protects all your teammates in the area. It also gives you some needed survivability against ad champions.

Build 2 - Tank Support

Need a tank but still want to play Lulu? This build is for you. The beginning for this build is the exact same as Build 1 except that you get Mercury's Treads instead of Mobility Boots.

After getting Shurelya's Battlesong, you need to get Abyssal Mask and Randuin's Omen. Start with getting Chain Vest (go straight for Warden's Mail if the enemy ad carry is really strong) and then Negatron Cloak. Don't be afraid to switch the order if you need to.

Now you have a few options. If the enemy has a really strong ad carry, get Randuin's Omen and then Abyssal Mask. If the enemy has a really strong ap carry, get Abyssal Mask and then Randuin's Omen. If no one stands out, just get Sunfire Aegis and then Abyssal Mask. After finishing your defense items, you can get Rabadon's Deathcap to complete your build.

Additional Information

I've thought about getting Rylai's Crystal Scepter but you have plenty of heath and slow already.

Even if someone else on your team gets Aegis of the Legion, you should still get it. Stacked, they will make your team even stronger.

Make sure to keep buying wards throughout the whole game. Get Oracle's Elixir sometime after you get Aegis of the Legion.

Try to keep Shurelya's Battlesong in items slot one and Locket of the Iron Solari in item slot two so you can just press 1 or 2 to turn on their actives. If you have a hard time remembering to use their actives, just keep trying and you'll get it soon enough.

How to change which slot an item is in:
[1] Move your cursor over the item in your inventory at the bottom of the screen.
[2] Click, hold, and move to another slot.
[3] Let go in the spot you want the item in. If there is already an item in that place, they will trade places.

Abilities

Ability Order

Immediately get all the spells because they are all very useful.

First get a point in Help, Pix! because it gives you the early option to attack the enemy or shield your ally. After that, get a point in Glitterlance for the slow. Since you start with some ap from your runes, you should be able to do some early damage if need be. Take a point in Whimsy and then Help, Pix! for the fourth and fifth point. For the sixth point, get your ultimate Wild Growth.

Max your Help, Pix! first because it will help you support your lane partner best. If your lane partner is ap, you might want to mix it up with Whimsy more. Finish all five points in Whimsy second and Glitterlance last. Make sure to get your ultimate whenever you can.

Summary

Get a point in each skill to start.
Max E first, W second, and Q third. Take R whenever possible.

When to use your spells

Glitterlance
Use when an enemy is running away or is moving into a certain position to attack.
Help, Pix!
Use on the teammate with the lowest health or your carry.
Whimsy
Use on the enemy ap caster or your team's ap caster.
Use it on an enemy who has lots of cc to disrupt their disruption.
Use on an enemy chasing down one of your carrys.
Can use on self to chase down enemies, escape enemies, or just reach a destination faster.
Wild Growth
Not technically a heal, but might be helpful to think of it as one.
Use right in the heat of battle.
Use on a teammate about to die.
Use on a teammate in the middle of the action.

Summoner Spells

Primary spell:

Heal is used because Lulu doesn't already have a heal if you don't count Wild Growth.

Secondary Spell Options

Teleport can be used in multiple ways. It can be used to teleport across the map to save your ally if you're pretty sure you can save them. You can save a teammate about to be turret dived. It is also used to buy your items and get back without your lane partner having to stay without you too long.

Clairvoyance is a popular support spell. Is used to check baron, dragon, the jungle, or just bushes. Can be great for setting up ganks and can keep you from walking into traps. Make sure to use often because it has a low cooldown time.

Flash is used for positioning to attack. Can also be used to escape although you are pretty good at escaping

Ghost You're so fast already but go ahead if that's your thing. I used it a lot while I was on lower levels and found it really nice.
