Introduction

Alright to begin with, This build is based off of my experience with Rengar. This build should not in any way, I repeat myself ; NOT IN ANY WAY affect what you think about Rengar.

So, to begin.

Rengar is a high burst damage potential assassin perfect for those stealthy in-your-face kills from the jungle. His bread and butter skill : Q, allows him to pick a single target and focus his main damage onto said target. His E, Bola Strike, Allows him to stick to those slippery targets that he just can't manage to make them stay still. W, of course to grant him bonus resistance in a fight (so don't think his W is useless, because a well trained Rengar can easily use this to turn the fight around on you.)

Rengar is another champion who does not use Mana and thus is free to spam skills. What he does have, however, is a Ferocity bar. This plays into how much damage Rengar can put out onto you and how well his Utility skills can work. Ferocity builds up whenever Rengar uses a skill and hits a target with it (can be minions, monsters, or even champions). Thus, don't forget to use your skills! If well timed, the Ferocity bar can help you in even the stickiest of situations.

Ferocity works in very helpful ways, in the fact that it Empowers your next skill that you use.

Savagery will deal damage equal to 30/60/90/120/150 + an additional (100%, 105%, 110%, 115%, and 120% of your AD).
Empowered Savagery will deal damage equal to 15 + (15 X Rengar's Current Level) + (150% of your AD)

Battle Roar will boost Rengar's armor and magic resist for 4 seconds dealing 50/80/110/140/170 +(80% AP), the Armor and Magic Resistance you gain are: 10/15/20/25/30 + 5/7.5/10/12.5/15 for each champion or large monster hit. (again, you can use this to your advantage in fights).

Empowered Battle roar will deal damage equal to 25 + (15 X Rengar's Current Level) + (80% AP) In addition to that it will also heal rengar for 8 + (4 X Rengar's Current Level) increasing by 6.25% for every 1% of Rengar's missing health for up to 50 + (25 X Rengar's Current Level).

(the two bonus defenses DO NOT stack together)

Bola Strike will deal 50/100/150/200/250 + (70% Bonus AD) and will slow the first enemy for 60/65/70/75/80%

Empowered Bola Strike will deal 25 + (25 x Rengar's Current Level) + (70% Bonus AD) and will Root the target for 1.75 seconds.

Rengar's Passive and Ultimate also play into the factor that he is a natural predator made for catching off guard targets and quickly eliminating them.

Rengar's Ultimate Thrill of the Hunt will stealth Rengar after 1 second (3 if taking damage) and grant him a vision radius of 2000/3000/4000 for 7 seconds (including stealth) and 12 seconds (if you have 12 Stacks on his Bonetooth Necklace). In addition to all this, he gains 15% movement speed while moving towards an enemy champion (30% movement speed if maxed out bonetooth necklace). However you need to be careful about this because enemies will be made aware of your stealth if they are within 1000 units from you. Upon exiting stealth via inflicting damage upon a target or the time running out, you will generate 5 ferocity per second and gain 25/35/45% movement speed for the next 5 seconds.

Rengar's Passive, Unseen Predator grants Rengar the ability to jump onto champions/minions/monsters within a distance of 600 units while in a brush or in stealth. This will last for 0.5 seconds of leaving a brush or stealth. The distance can be further increased when you gather 6 stacks on your bonetooth necklace, granting you a bonus 125 distance.

Now typically what I would do in this situation is to farm up your Ferocity before you get into a fight. It doesn't necessarily have to be at full Ferocity (but hey that helps too). Once you have farmed up your Ferocity, what you want to do is pop your ultimate a fair distance before you get into range so they don't see you coming and pop your q while in stealth. Position yourself so that you can land the rest of your skills with ease and then proceed to jump on your target and go HAM. Now keep in mind that out of stealth you will still produce 5 ferocity for the next 5 seconds, so if you think that the enemy can just get away from you by just walking away like that, it isn't going to happen. Once the ferocity builds up, throw your Empowered Bola Strike at the low target. If that doesn't kill him, run up to him and proceed to use your remaining skills and auto attack him to death. This is just what I do, there are many ways you can use Rengar in a fight and that's what makes him a really high threat.

Pros / Cons

Pros :
High Damage
Pop the squishes
You can pretty much solo carry if you get fed
Everyone is scared of you once you hit 6
It's just fun to see them run around trying to figure out where you are.
Night Hunter Rengar.

Cons :
Extremely squishy without tanky items
Focus in fights
Without high damage items you're pretty much gonna have a hard time killing someone.
If you get counter jungled, you're gonna have a bad time.
Can fall behind really easily.

Runes

For Runes, I ran CDR glyphs along with Scaling MRES for and easier time in jungle. Since Rengar's abilities don't cost him anything, CD is his only enemy. Attack Speed runes help you clear camps faster, the one Lifesteal to help you sustain and not die. Armor to reduce damage from incoming AD damage. Last but not least Armor Penetration runes to put out for the high burst damage. (heh. Penetration.)

Masteries

For Masteries I run 21/9/0 because this IS a full damage Rengar build. Standard stuff for the most part, however running Sorcery > Fury just allows Rengar to get off his skills that much sooner. By late game with full CDR on Rengar I was able to pull of a Q attack and have it back up within 3 seconds, meaning every 3 seconds I was able to burst down a target with Savagery (yikes). I ran feast to survive in jungle, and Dangerous Game for that all-in, high-reward potential.

Items

The reason for building what I build is simple.

Blade of the Ruined King is slightly better right now on Rengar compared to Bloodthirster because it grants him : Bonus attack speed (faster clear and faster AA), Lifesteal, your AA deal 8% of the target's current HP in physical dmg (60 vs monsters and minions), plus a slow debuff and speed buff for you along with sapping 10% of the target's health and healing you for that amount. Granted yes Bloodthirster gives you more AD and 5% more lifesteal and a shield, It's just not worth it compared to BorK and it costs more. BorK is an easy early game item that can still transition well into late game. Now granted yes there is a buff coming up on Bloodthirster, I will have to wait and see if it does enough to replace my BorK build.

Youmuu's Ghostblade provides a lot for Rengar. I mean A LOT. 30 AD, 15% Crit chance, 10% CDR, 20 armor pen, pop for a 40% atk spd and 20% mov spd buff for 6 seconds at the measly cost of 2700 gold? HELL YES. IMO, it's worth it to invest in this item asap. Bread and Butter for this build IMO.

Last Whisper , Ok honestly do we HAVE to go over this? I mean come on. 40 bonus AD plus a 35% ARMOR PEN. 35% means whatever amount of armor they have, yeah 35% of it doesn't mean anything to you. Keep in mind, on targets that have low amounts of armor, this means that you're basically doing true damage to them.

Spirit of the Ancient Lizard. Ok you have no reason not to be building this unless you are really behind (even then, build it. it helps you farm in jungle.) or you're snowballing to the point where you're 25/0 within 15 minutes of the game.

Infinity Edge , ok like I said in the notes (if you bothered to read them) this is my opinion on building it. It's not mandatory but the extra damage + crit chance helps out tons. Hey, never hurts you to do more damage onto their carries. (although it'll hurt them alot.) I mean at this point if you can afford to buy an Infinity Edge without worrying, you're pretty much good to build a lot of choices. So hey go nuts and build what you want for your last item.

Q > E > R > W that's it.

Spells

Smite , ok if you're jungling as Rengar and not running this... ok let me rephrase that. If you're jungling PERIOD and you don't run this, you either must be a cocky guy, plain stupid, or god himself. Either way, pick your poison man.

Flash , I honestly think Flash would do so much more for Rengar than Ghost due to the fact that BorK + Youmuu + Rengar ulti already gives him an insane amount of movement speed.

Ghost , Read above. Ghost can still work though, if you know how to use it correctly.

Any other spells , you're joking... right?

Creeping / Jungling

Ok now for jungling what I tend to do on Rengar is to start Elder Lizard, However keep in mind, if you do this and the enemy jungler starts red as well, you have to either finish quickly and rush to blue to prevent it from being stolen or rush to their blue to take it. Your choice. From there (assuming you got both buff camps), hit a couple of small camps to hit level 3. Ok now from here, what you CAN do is look towards the lane that is the EASIEST to gank. Even if you don't get a kill, as long as your lane is still alive, you're alive, and they burnt a summoner spell, it's worth it. Now back to farming and ganking other lanes. Once you hit 6, this is the point where you're no longer in need to farm jungle (although it helps to get the gold. I mean come on. Free gold.) you can pop your ulti and stealth in to gank a lane.

Team Work

This is KEY to winning a game. The way you can provide help to your laners, other than ganking for them, is to WARD. ALWAYS WARD. It not only gives YOU vision on where everyone and everything is, but it allows your laners to pull off successful plays and win the game. I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH ABOUT HOW WARDING IS IMPORTANT.

WARD WARD WARD.
