After the Liandrys and morello changes, i switched back to going protobelt first. It just helps so much with your waveclear and damage. The recent runic echoes changes scared me at first, when they made it so runic was build with lost chapter. But fiendish codex + saphire crystal is waaaaayyyy better for Elise. So yeah, you obviously get red smite abnd dont let anyone tell you otherwise. Red smite is the only way to go with Elise. Blue smite is fine and all, but ganking and dueling is so much easier with red smite, especially if you know how to use it. The boots you buy are completely optional and subjective. Some people like mobis and some like sorcs or defensive boots. I usually go with sorcs, so i get maximum penetration, when combined with oblivion orb. Elise has bad scalings so she lives off mpen and uility. After proto i always get oblivion orb, but you could leave it at that, if you want to. The thing you want most from morello is the mpen and oblivion orb already gives you all of that pen, so some people just leave the oblivion orb and buy morellos at a later stage. Liandrys isnt really viable anymore either. Since the passive is not that great for Elise and it doesnt give mpen anymore either. After morellos, it doesnt really matter tbh. You could build tank too. But most of the time you will need a void and the last item is COMPLETELY optional. YOu could even throw a nashors or lich bane or trinity or rageblade or whatever in there, because at that stage of the game youre probably a stun-bot and you already have damage. Thats why rylais is pretty neat. In S6 rylais was your core item, but after they nerfed the on-hit slow, it was kinda useless. BUT the rito god's blessed us, by giving us more AP. So yeah, rylais is pretty neat again. Maybe not as a 2nd item, but whatever. GA isnt viable anymore either, but those times are long gone.
Standard jungle runepage. Electrocute is probably the only mastery for Elise. Predator is funny too, but not really viable. You will always need the extra dmage, whether it be electrocute or thunderlords. You take cheap shot instead of sudden impact, because you rely on your cocoon and you open fights with it, while most of the time, you finish the fight with either one of your gap closers, thats why yu wont be getting as much damage out of it. Celerity is pretty op and synergizes with alot of your items, plus Elise base movementspeed got buffed so percentage ms is even better. Waterwalking is pretty good because of early scuttle fights and depending on the matchup they can be game winning. Oh yeah and relentless hunter is just nice, so you can move around the map faster.
You throw you cocoon, press q, cast your w behind you(or wherever theres free space). Change forms, where you either q or walk up to them, or use your e(depends on the distance) and then use your w and spiderlings to finish them off, or use your short q cd to execute them.
A second combo, to clear up targets, would be where you rappel onto them and try to finish them with your q execute/ aa them with your spiderlings if its not enough or even switch back to human form, if all means fail, to finish them off with an AA or an ability, but they wont be doing as much damage, since they skill with max hp, unlike your spider q.

Shes pretty hard in the beginning and especially calculating her damage nad playing around her cd's can be really tricky. But if youre confident, you should have no problem having fun with her, because the real fun begins, when you satrt one shotting and just camp the enemy blue, or perma dive bot. Elise is really good at diving, because she can switch aggro, so make good use of that.
Shes hella fun and her character in and of itself is awesome. Shes fun when youre ahead and sometimes pretty broken, but when you are behind, you can still be useful. She has sustain with her spiderlings, good objective control, high pressure early and falls off mid to late game. Could use some buffs to her e, or her spiderlings, but shes still kinda viable, so yeah go ahead and give it a try

So you are probably wondering what the **** is wrong with me, BUT Elise mid can be really good. Try it out your one shoot potential is way higher mid than as a jungler. She cant really trade that well and her waveclear is ****. BUT thats why you go protobelt first. You will probably get pushed in pre protobelt but that makes it easier for your jungler since Elise is excellent at setting up ganks. PLUS trades dont really matter since you solely depend on all-ins. Elise mid requires a bit more knowledge, especially knwouing your damage output can be crucial at times, but after a few games you should get the hang of it and its really fun once you start rolling. Your scalings are bad but you will hurt even late game. She gets weaker the longer the game lasts but your w poke is really good and the percent health damage on your q and your stun are pretty good against tanks. Another thing that makes Elise mid strong is her rappell. Alot of mid-laners are ultimate-dependend(ZED!!!!!!) and with your e you can basically dodge them all, but be careful the cooldown is enourmos especially after the nerfs. Thats my opinion on Elise mid have a great day and thanks for reading my guide.
